Hi everyone - so I'm trying to get VR for some sim racing and well there is no budget for this so I'm trying to get it set up for as dirt cheap as possible.
I got myself a VR Box headset for my smart phone to try out with Riftcat just to see how things work etc... After a bit of a mission setting it up I got it running with Assetto Corsa and seemed good but seem to get a bit of lag from time to time on a 5ghz wireless network.
I know that a smartphone isn't really made for this in the long run but as a cheap interim solution it might just work for me.
So I have a theory regarding the usb connection and using that rather than the wireless connection - I have a Sony Xperia XZ premium and the standard charging cable isn't usb 3.0 (and way to short
) so I would like to pose the question - would a usb 3.1 cable help where it comes to any latency issues? (obviously to be used via usb 3.0 port)
the other thing is that I am looking at is a cheap little bluetooth controller to use with the VR set so that I don't have to use either keyboard or xbox controller to emulate VR controller which kind of "overlaps" in game where a button that is mapped in game is also a button mapped in Riftcat - so my question is - would this work with the setup I am trying to do and has anyone ever tried something like this before?
Obviously I would love to get a proper VR set but finding a cheap one (+/- 2500) isn't easy and missed a rift for that price once, but as a very cheap approach to VR, this could be a start?
It's to be used in a seated position only. I've looked at the oculus go but that I believe from other posts I've read up on, is not a good route to go...
