So did they fix the fact that you have to re Download the game with every patch ?
Like they did say it was a goal of theirs a while back but hasnt happened yet, expect a 40gb dl, however it is out on ptu and the server is suffering big time so i wouldnt be surprised if the update is delayed again for a bit. i hope it is a quick fix that doesnt need to be delayed, got 3 weeks leave and was planning on putting in a good few hours haha
yip, and rumours are that it will be with this 2.6 release and all future release will be a patch system. no need to DL entire game again.

Please let me know when patch 2.6 is live Silv - im moerse keen to try but the idea of DL 40gb every patch is stupid
I heard that feature will come with 3.0. The guys on 2.6 PTU are downloading big updates still
Have you tried an Xbox or equivalent gamepad for starters? Seen those being used in official demo streams, so should be pretty effective. Dual joysticks would be cheaper than hotas, but haven't tried it myself. So, looks pretty badass but feels absolutely pathetic with mouse and keyboard which is weird because I can handle ED with MK but the flight controls seems a lot more sensitive in SC.
So my question is, do I get a HOTAS at some point or do I try a dual stick?

Agreed, gamepad will score lowest for immersion. I've played both ED and SC with my x52 and personally have not noticed a major difference between the two ( granted I haven't tried out the new flight mechanics in SC as yet).I have seen this route being taken as well but I am not sure if I want to try this. Feel like I could get closer to an immersive experience with the cheaper dual stick setup instead of going full immersive with HOTAS. Also, correct me if I am wrong, I feel like ED is slightly better suited to a HOTAS than SC? The flying mechanics are definitely slightly different I have noticed.
Yeah I guess so then. HOTAS are so damn expensive though. I don't know. It's really just SC that gives me problems. I've wanted to get a HOTAS for a while now for ED but I can still have a decent experience flying with keyboard and mouse. I don't find it too difficult. I will swap to HOTAS when I can afford it but for now I'm alright whilst flying in SC? Wow. Granted I've only played for 2 days now but still. I assumed that sims would at least be vaguely similar.Agreed, gamepad will score lowest for immersion. I'm not sure how well the dual joysticks pan out without having a slide throttle though - having to keep constant pressure on one stick for throttle could become tiring.
At one point CIG were planning on releasing SC branded controllers from Saitek - and all were HOTAS types with slide throttles, so perhaps HOTAS would be the way to gl.
I vaguely recall something about Frontier deciding early on that they did not want to allow players operating as space cannons - staying stationary while yawing and pitching to fire upon moving ships - they felt this would kill the gameplay. As a result, they reduced the rate and which the ships can pitch and yaw.Yeah I guess so then. HOTAS are so damn expensive though. I don't know. It's really just SC that gives me problems. That sounds correct. Makes sense. It is this slower 'roll' rate that makes mouse and keyboard more manageable on ED.
CIG flight model is more physics based, so no such limitation exists. As a result, the pitch and yaw via mouse is extremely sensitive, which is probably what you are experiencing.
Keep an eye out for a used x52 - they can be had fairly cheap. That sounds correct. Makes sense. It is definitely what I am feeling

Isn't the T16000M just a Joystick? I have been looking and I thought it was just a joystick.Keep an eye out for a used x52 - they can be had fairly cheap.
Alternatively look into the Thrustmaster t16000m - one of the newer but more affordable HOTAS.
Check out the T.16000M FCS.Isn't the T16000M just a Joystick? I have been looking and I thought it was just a joystick.
Ultimately I am not interested in the combat and fighting aspect of the game. I will probably get into it for relaxed trading and exploration so we shall see.
Check out the T.16000M FCS.
I went and bought the standalone Merlin because I wanted something that looked like a little sports car and boy does it deliver but again. Still need a proper flying system. Might consider melting down my Aurora or something. Not sure

Lol. This sounds super evil but also very clever. Will be attempting this tonight.I keep my eyes open for any multi crew ships and when I see a guy getting in, I hop in. Then I try hide as long as possible. If they spot me, it's already a shock; but even better is if they don't and they Eva out to fix a satellite or something... And then their ship gets jacked. Then they are stuck in space and I'm cruising around a freelancer or whatnot until I die! Mwhahahaha

Perhaps, but so much fun. Besides, no serious consequences. I just know that guy is floating in space thinking to himself that he only has himself to blame. Reminds me of the "body hunter" in Firefly.Lol. This sounds super evil but also very clever. Will be attempting this tonight.
