Hey everyone

Just throwing this out there. I'd like to install a new NVMe drive in my PC and had planned to do it myself, but it looks like I'd need to remove my CPU cooler to access the M.2 slot. I think I know what to do, I just don't have the practical experience to trust myself & with current pricing on components I'd rather keep luck out of the equation. More than willing to pay & I offer free coffee.

I'm located in Theresa Park, Pretoria North.

Give these guys a go:

I used them to fix my bent pins a few years ago when they were the only place I could find that was open during the christmas period. They have a staff member on here that's done deals as well before, but I can't remember his username now.

EDIT: Found my thread from back then as well. https://carbonite.co.za/index.php?t...-with-ram-in-a1-a2-slots.275889/#post-1875404

Under the CPU cooler?! Which motherboard do you have?

Thanks! That's just around the corner. I'll give them a call tomorrow.

Post more details. model of mobo etc
Hi bud, I have the Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro Wi-Fi but the issue is that the cpu cooler (Cooler Master Hyper 212) is quite bulky and partially covers the m.2 slot.

I've identified what looks like the only logical option to me. I recon it's this:

hahahahaha

well, do you then at least know what the nvme slots on your mobo look like and where to find them? :D
I think you're under-estimating how intimidating something like this is for someone that's PC hardware knowledge-limited. :ROFLMAO:

Imagine telling your gran this - would she be able to do it with just the instructions you've given here, without being frightened to death by it?

well, when you are using a term such as nvme and CPU cooler and mentioning to get to m.2 slot, you would have thought there was at least some basic knowledge about a PC :D

and besides, I was just asking seeing as it was said that it looks like he might need to remove CPU cooler, but if didn't know what it looks like, how could know that??? :p

I know a little, for the rest Google is my friend. 👍

Yeah definitely top one has all the sizes from 46-110, where the bottom one has from 46-80 size.

Yeah, if you don't even know what the CPU cooler is, I certainly wouldn't dare give you advice on removing it unless it's in person.

And there's nothing wrong with not knowing.
