Re: Inporting A car For the wife!

Hey Guys Just an update, Spoke to the clearing agent now.
The car is going on the RoRo this week.

Hehe and to think I get excited about tracking my parcel this takes it to the next level. Oooh is that a storm heading towards the ship :p

So Just an update Guys,
RoRo was Moored is Singapore Yesterday, this morning it left for Sri Lanka.
About 2 weeks give or take then the car will be delivered in Durban.

Man i wish they could give me the Japan plates.
Would have looked awsome.

Another update, The Vehicle carrier is currently at Ennore port in India.
I will know later today the next Destination port.

PS. Passports should be ready by next week!

Hello Everyone, So it seems there might be a hiccup.

The taxman in Lesotho (LRA) is trying to clamp down on Fraudulent importers, tax on vehicles going to Lesotho will now be calculated on vehicle value instead of purchase price.
Some importers buy vehicles and the they ask the seller to send an invoice with a much lower purchase price on the invoice, in order to pay less tax at clearing stations on the borders.

My clearing and import agent was very truthful and said, there is nothing he can do about the (LRA) Decision and that on my import and clearing documents nothing has changed so far.
The Clearance documentation was only delivered to Durban port yesterday for clearance before car can be offloaded.
once Durban agent is done with the process they will send the documents to Lesotho, then we will know what is the ruling on the Tax amount.
I've already paid my clearing agent R 11 288 for tax in Lesotho, my agent said that corresponds to the value and purchase price of the vehicle.

Ill keep you peeps updated.
Have an awesome day.

Hello
Good news the RORO docked at Durban This morning 00:42.
at least it didnt pull a Titanic on me LMAO.

Now the process begins wit all the paperwork and lovely taxes

Chao

Hello Another Update.

The Wife's car was Delivered to Maseru via truck on Tuesday.
Over and above the tax I've already paid i the difference was just R1300.00 Not bad at all.

Some issues this morning was that Interpol could not find the Engine number as it is located behind the exhaust manifold and being a 50/50 weight distribution car the engine is mounted way back into the firewall.

If all goes well ill be collecting the car tomorrow afternoon.

Getting very exited now.

The car itself was quite cheap running about R20000
Shipping from Japan to Durban R10000
Tax for car at Durban Port. R8000 ( Percentage of vehicles value plus Commission for importer) will be less with a cheaper car and more with a more expensive car.
Truck transporting car to Lesotho R3000
Tax in Lesotho(LRA) R14000 Same as tax in Durban + Clearing agents commission
Lesotho registration R2000
