Bikers!?

Can anyone recommend a store to get gear from? Helmet, jacket, gloves, backpack etc? Budget-friendly, i.e. safe but not a 20k helmet

Bikers Warehouse has some good gear at decent prices.
Motomate which Ovisser suggested. My current helmets are from them.

Regarding Fire it up, Their sales department is good. Don't take bikes to them for servicing or repairs. They charged me a crap ton for a service and didn't actually do the service. I got my money back once I proved it though.

Thanks, planning to meet up with @Khemri at biker's warehouse tomorrow

Good bunch of people there. They’ve just opened up a cafe/coffee spot too. Been meaning to stop by for a while; my wallet keeps saying no though.

+1 to this.

Noooo. Not this weekend. Mine is in for a service

Just wondering, What time do people reckon they'll be at biker's warehouse?
Met up there for lunch with @Khemri @Random_Sheep @Llama58 even though Khemri is the only biker. Sorry for no heads-up @D3TTOL

@Khemri showed me around as a hopeful soon to be biker and some gear suggestions. Hopefully one day we can go for a breakfast run or something!

For now I'm just trying to book an appointment every other day on NaTIS and the system just shits itself and breaks.

i was there around 12.15 but didn't stay too long. I left just after all the Harley guys left.

Glad it worked out well @Erohann. Easily 50% of the biking experience is the community - it's something you just don't get with cars.

Keep this thread going with breakfast runs and random rides; if there's one thing I've realised over the years it's that no matter how random, pointless or stupid a ride you want to do might seem, it's always worth posting ahead of time. Even if you end up with one other bike just sort of doing the same route as you, at least you have a contact if something goes sideways.

I have to say I've had the best experience from the 86ofGP community and the same with Carb! I guess wherever people with shared interests come together, there is a chance that things are just turned up to the next level in a positive way.

Got there at 12:07 or so, stayed till about 14:30 way after they closed, chatting in the parking lot. We all in desperate need of some social action!

Fair enough, but that's centred around one car, and yes, there are groups centred around one bike. The thing is owning a bike, any bike, immediately puts you in a club that respects your choice of ride no matter what it is. You can buy a R5k Chinese scooter and the biking community will welcome you with open arms. It's something I wish I knew in my 125cc high school days.

Hello gents!

Any recommendations for 3rd party insurance on my bike?

ALSO:

Who is keen on a ride around for Saturday/Sunday in Gauteng? I don't know routes or roads though, but keen to twist the throttle.

Onroad: Ducati ST4S

Current bike

Onroad: Honda CBR900RR Fireblade

Many sensible people will most likely hark on you with that vid xD

But damn, you think you can take on a panigale? xD what was that, The 1199 or 1299?
I can take a harking. :ROFLMAO:

1199 I think? That Panigale is farking quick dude! Belongs to @Wacko_ZA. Maybe on pull away I can get a tire in front, for the moment. Once he gets the hang of the launch control there is no point in me even trying.

I wonder if my BMW could keep up with it, It has launch control and all that, Not sure if yours does.
My previous bike would have definitely given it something to chew on, damn I miss it. :'(

I spoke to a buddy of mine who rides a GSX-1000S and he's keen to do a ride sometime in the near future. I'm sure @ovisser1 would join as well :p
