Bikers!?

Shit man, thats gotta suck.

Something something... apple of motorcycle world...

Then again I had to pay R6k for a replacement gear lever and traction control paddles + shipping & import tax for my Aprilia end last year so I can't really speak either.

Hurts man. Hard earned savings once again down the drain. Wondering if moving away from KTM is my next big answer, I can't go through that price tag again.

Never fully understood the saying "If you ride a KTM you need an ATM" until now.

This was the main reason why I ended up getting a zx6r as my previous bike over the 690 duke.
Then I went and ran the ninja through someones rear window anyway.

This is exactly what I meant by saying "Never enough power"
I've only owned 4 bikes over the last three years :ROFLMAO:

Raceworx KTM are the one's who did the last service. Yeah apparently is was running dry on oil and overheating was the cause of everything going to shit. I call bullshit, going to try fight it but for now I'm honestly biting the bullet and getting it up and running again. My Joburg to Pretoria ride is beyond shit in the car every morning and evening.

Ran dry. No oil but display showed absolutely no signs of oil running low. Something suspicious here. Will get more answers later in the week.

Your mistake was raceworx unfortunately. I would not trust them for anything at all.
Supposedly the pretoria one is better.

@PsyentisT I made the same mistake, My bike was still under warranty and they tried to hit me with a R36k invoice. Luckily enough I could fight it as my bike was still under warranty but even that was a mission and a half and I still had to get KTM Austria involved before they fixed it under warranty.

If you looking to upgrade to something with a little more go, once you can afford it and all. Maybe look at a Suzuki SV650 or Yamaha MT07 or even the kawasaki Z650. They will definitely be a bit quicker than the 390 and easier to maintain.

But brah xD,
No offence but you come across to me as one of those types that see a professional stuntman pulling wheelies at 180kph and dramatically say: "Hold my beer"

Lol, I like speed, but I also like keeping both wheels on the road at all times.
The few times I have lifted the front wheel was 1. unintentional, and 2. caused me to just about shit my pants each time. :p

Yeah I'm getting the 390 up and running again and selling it as soon as possible. The MT07 is definitely top of my list at the moment. One of the best naked designs I have seen, such a mean stance. Although fuel economy and comfort is key as it'll be my 120KM a day daily rider. Yup... my travel from Joburg to Pretoria is a lovely 60KM trip one-way.

:ROFLMAO: Ouch! I'm allowed to laugh as my last incident was me riding into a fairly large woman while lane splitting. she ended with a scratch and a sore leg. I was the one who ended with aches and pains for the next few months..

Haha xD I love how people say fuel economy.
Before this covid 19 thing I was nearing R1000 fuel pm and I sorta mentioned it saying it's becoming ridiculous.
Some people told me their fuel bills for their cars...

I will never complain about a bikes fuel economy xD. Soo much better than a car.

Hah! okay fair enough. Boils down to comfort in that case 😅

I just have high standards, the 390 was around R160 a week. Magical

Yea somehow I walked away from that accident with just my knees scraped up (road rash) from being dragged with the car for a bit before the rear window tore out and I got dropped in the road.

Entire front of bike was fucked, along with a piece of the air intake duct being stuck in the guys bumper.

Should also note this happened at around 80km/h so wasn't even speeding then.

Hi there

First bike:Offroad: Motomia 110cc scooter that ran for 5 years, spent less then 1000 in maintenance in that time. R5 petrol could take me 30km.
Had a Jonway cruiser, Honda copycat, worst bike ever. Then Honda PCX150, after I realized i prefer automatics.

Current bike: Honda NC700D Integra, best bike i have ever owned

Those guys with they sport bikes would make fun, but I had a 0-100 time of 5secs and I didn't get wet in the rain due to the windshield and fairings. @ 250km on R150 tank of petrol, will never get rid of it.

Dream Bike: Honda NM4 - Batman bike

Even me I shit myself. But I still do it erry time I catch a red light.:eek::eek::eek: :poop::p

I have just gone over 10k km on my 790 Duke and it has been flawless.

Honestly the single cylinder 390 and 690s weren't that great and obviously puts a lot of strain on that little engines.
Also had a friend that had over 20k on his 790 which he commuted with and no issues at all.

790s are also lowering in price due to the new 890 release, so I would recommend at least looking into a 790 like you initially wanted to

Im happy with my Aprilia for now.
Next bike will be something more focused at commuting/long distance riding when I eventually get that itch out of my ass to twist the throttle.

Why not both?

Ducati Multistrada
KTM 1290 SuperDuke GT
BMW S1000XR
Mainly... money xD
I am paying R180k (incl interest etc) on the Aprilia which is by far my most expensive bike to date.
Ape will be paid off by 2024 after which I will buy expensive again, till then I will look at getting a cheaper commuter as a stop gap.
Something that won't completely break the bank if it breaks down either.

I must say though, part of my soul needs a Ducati in it's life, but then you look at all the horror stories of them, as well as the lack of capable people to work on them, well in Cpt atleast.
Closest place to me is too far to ride the bike there should something go wrong.
Same story with the Aprilia, but atleast the guy I bought the Ape from knows the bike well enough to do most of the basic/intermediary repairs on it himself rather than having to get my bike to Newlands for someone to work on it when they eventually have time.

Ah so you plan on keeping the Aprilia xD. I thought you intended to replace it with a more commuter oriented bike.
I have also looked at getting a SV or a MT07 as a commuter but I have done it all before and from experience I have always found myself taking the bigger more powerful bike rather than the commuter.

I want the panigale engine, Naked or superbike. As long it is one of those massive twins or V4 engines. I'm not really interested in their other engines like the monster or hyperstrada etc. Ive ridden a 1200 monster and it is good and pulls relatively hard but compared to what those Panigale engines can do....

If I get a ducati, it will either be a 1199,1299 panigale or even maybe that new panigale V2 that they renamed from the 959 panigale

Yea the Panigale has also been the cause of many wet dreams for me, and will probably cause many more for as long as I live.
If I continue on the path I am currently, then ill be forced by my heart to get the 1199 xD

I must say, after riding both v4 and inline 4 engines, the v4 speaks to me on a different level.
While the inline 4 has a nice almost whistle to it, listening to the v4 roar when you riding is something else entirely.

Also not talking about a inline 4 with a coffee tin used as the exhaust either, as the only thing that can compare to that is a Golf that came out of Kraaifontein (Brakpan of Cape Town (Almost))

I ride the Kawasaki Versys X as a my daily commuter and weekend toy, loving every minute of it.

650x366

I hear you on the KTM ATM thing, only thing that made me buy the 1190 Adventure S was I could not find a single other "adventure type" bike that was trying as hard to be a superbike(Ducati Multistada excluded). I wanted an adventure bike but was not willing to give up on my superbiking ways.

For everyday commuting etc the Ram X-Grip works really well, but the Ram HOL-PD3-U is the way to go. I've used one for a few years now; lots of heavy off-roading (including a few falls) and the phone has never budged.
Only catch is you need to mod it very slightly if you have a big phone like a Max/Plus.

GoPro mount depends on where you want to mount it. My only advice would be to spend the money on the GoPro branded stuff. It seems stupidly expensive, but all the cheaper options I've tried have failed in some critical way. The most common failure is the slide clip isn't rock solid in the base, so the camera wobbles in the mount very slightly and you end up with vomit-inducing footage.
