Upgrade advice

And please don't get a A320M, atleast try save up later for a budget B450M and get ram with atleast like 3200mhz especially for Ryzen.

3200mhz is also the same price if not a few rands more than 3000mhz.

So I'm looking out for a B450M motherboard, 3200mhz DDR4, and a 3200G AMD processor?

Any brands to look out for on the mobo and RAM?

Good price, first message him asking if it was undervolted etc. GPU's used for mining are actually better than those used for gaming if the card was undervolted etc.

They said they were undervolted. I bought one, hopefully it works alright. :D

My wife has the exact same build just with 16gig ram and a gtx1060 and I can assure you at 1080 gaming it runs well. I am honestly surprised how it runs. Mainly play Apex and GTAV and no issues at all. I would recommend going for a 1060.

Also, any ram is fine if it comes from a well known brand (Corsair, G.skill etc)

He got a 1060 for 1.2K? Definitely worth it at that price

Iv bought form him before. Was all legit and had warranty.

Just check with him that the one you are buying is still under warranty. You don't really want a card that is out of warranty

I already bought it LOL. Will message to check.

Get a 1060 or RX570, its already a shit ton faster than your current card, i estimate around 4x more horsepower

Dont be stressed about the mining cards, these guys had to tune their cards to be efficient, underclocked them too as the PSU sata power cables would be the first thing to fail.. Sata power cables are used to power the GPU risers, and the plug would literally melt off if not optimally tuned.

Id suggest getting something with a bit more IPC performance, perhaps look at some of the newer gen stuff once you get a chance..
These quotes are for CPU, MOBO and RAM
Has iGPU

Has no iGPU

i know its evetech and after sales service with them is questionable, but just using them as an example..
From what I’ve researched, the i3 9100f seems to be a better option than AMD in the same price range if I have a GPU. Is this correct? That intel upgrade kit is really well priced.

The Intel bundle has a motherboard which only supports up to 2666mhz ram (Not sure if you can OC) , don't have a clue as to why they have 3000mhz ram. Should also just contact them to see if they will put in 2 or 1 stick/s considering they have the right to choose (If 1 stick, goodbye to dual channel which is a big hit to FPS)

I would recommend saving up a bit more for a custom bundle on Wootware, going for the Ryzen 5 2600, 16gb 3000mhz (2x8, CL16) and then a Asus Prime B450M-K (Motherboard supports up to 2666mhz, but you can OC up to 3200mhz) for around 5.6K shipped.

The 2600 can get quite a bit more FPS in games and also if you're looking to edit, theres that!

Thanks. Is it true that the intel chips don’t really benefit for significantly faster ram while the AMD ones do? Perhaps that’s why the motherboard doesn’t go so high? I also see there’s another bundle with the H370-F motherboard. Any thoughts?

I would ideally like to keep the cost around 4K or below.

Yup, with AMD +600Mhz could get you around a 5-20 FPS difference in some games, which is why most people recommend 3000MHz + when getting ram.

Could you link the motherboard combo.

When I get home, I'll look at some alternatives

That bundle is good, but would only recommend if you plan on upgrading to like 16gb ram.

For todays standards, would recommend 16GB 3000mhz, a B450M mobo / Z370 / Z390 and either a 2ND gen Ryzen or 3RD gen / Intel i5/7 8/9th gen

Will share some other bundles later on
Thank you, appreciate the help! I can upgrade at a later stage, just need something decent to complement the 1060 for now.

I could always also upgrade at a later stage, so get a B450 mobo and a cheaper Ryzen for now, and then later on if I feel I need it, I could swap out the processor.

Oh looks like the eve tech upgrade kits FOR AMD are out, I need a micro-ATX motherboard and the B450 they have is ATX.

Alright,

The Asus Mobo is also a ATX if not mistaken? I have some time to go look around right now so I'll go do that and see what I can find for you

I think the best is to go for Intel right now, the upgrades that I found were the best were quite expensive.. around 5-6k shipped.

And what do you think about going for a cheap AMD and then upgrading the processor at a later stage?

Honestly, would do that, just don't get a A320, try get a B450M or something.

That would be a good idea, make sure its 3000mhz ram + and i guess also 16gb
