Howzit guys,

Ok so I have a 246V5LSB Phillips 24" screen.. with 5ms response time. Currently im running with a d-sub cable.. I am not home to confirm but im sure its running at 60hz... so my question, what is the optimum refresh rate I should be looking at on this screen and would changing to the dvi port hav an impact in this regard? What exactly would I gain using the DVI port instead?

Thanks in advance

It should be running at 60Hz by default, the manual does indicate that it can go to 76Hz, so you could try pushing it up a bit.

LCD monitors are digital by design, to connect via the VGA port, your display card must convert the digital image to analogue, which the monitor must then convert back to digital again to display it. Any dual conversion process like this is bound to cause some image degradation (whether you will be able to see it, is another question :) ), so if a direct digital connection is possible, use it.
