HI All,

So a friend and I are looking to import some goodies from Amazon US at the end of the month.

If anyone would like to join us to possibly save a bit on shipping etc, drop me a pm with a link to the item and I'll give you a rough estimate of the cost.

Note pricing changes as the Rand/Dollar changes.

I am not doing this to make any money etc, simply offering other Carbies the chance to save a bit of R on import/shipping costs.

Are these items that don't ship to SA? If not, then the savings will be minimal as the shipping price will increase depending on the amount of goods being shipped

No no, normal items that do ship to SA.

Yeah the savings is minimal but every little bit helps right? We are doing a possible monitor import (shipping and handling is rough).

Nicely specc'ed monitor

In my opinion, in the 27" there are only 3 real monitors that are good upgrades (unless you go 4k).

1. Acer Predator XB271HUT
2. Asus PG279Q
3. Aorus AD27QD

The Aorus has the benefit of being supported by nVidia's G-sync so no worries there either.

Ooh nice the RGB gives it the highest refresh rate possible I assume (y)

I'm looking specifically for :

27", IPS, 120hz (or higher) G-Sync/Freesync (nvidia supported).

Also don't see the point/need to go 4k just yet, GPU tech has not caught up to reliably run it at 100fps + to use the "sync" part.

Doesn't Amazon shipping work on an item by item/seller by seller basis?

Only if the order is not fulfilled by Amazon LLC (ie Amazon themselves).

Hmm there actually is something. I'll send you a PM just now.

FYI, we're looking at doing the import on/around the 25th of June, so you are welcome to shop around till then.

No offence to @ScottulusMaximus but the item I wish to bring in, is R3k cheaper via Amazon direct than via Scott.

You sure about that? Doesn't sound right... We will be more expensive than amazon direct, can't get the same shipping deal, but not by that much.

A group buy import will only save the R50 clearance fee, shipping is billed on weight. Will cost more for the local courier than the savings.

I sent you a pm with the details.

There's also people who are getting stuff they can't get locally, and the savings is from R100 - R300 depending on item.

Closing thread, situation changed and probably won't do the import anytime soon.
