Keyboard Nut Thread

So, I will be receiving 3 orders this week. Kbdfans, kineticlabs and hopefully PimpMyKeyboard. One of which FINALLY has a full resin case!
Also, 4 sets of switches to play with :)
How long did your order from KBDfans take to arrive?

Hey guys that were interested in the Gateron Switch Group buy, because there were quite a few I've contacted Gateron direct and we may get a much better price as well as they do have a thousand switch MOQ and we can definitely fulfill that no issues

Just picked up a Keychron K4 Hotswop, these are on the way 119 Keys Black & White Keycap Set XDA Profile PBT Sublimation Japanese Keycaps for Mechanical Keyboard

I know Gateron make the Zelios V2 switches but are they allowed to sell them to anyone but Zeal?

@ctrlshiftesc_za will these work on the K4? Durock V2 Screw-In Stabilizers - Control Shift Escape

You You probably know this but the right alt - numpad enter & right shift are different size keycaps so the XDA set of caps you have won't work on those keys as the spacing is different, tighter than 'normal' caps.

Durock won't work as K4 uses plate mount stabs and not screw in. China manufactures and will sell all switches regardless, but Tealios is a better option.
With those keycaps you might be short of the Ctrl, Alt, Fn, Windows keys to the right of the spacebar

Thanks, Hopefully the caps are not so bad. If it's an issue I can always use them on other keebs. I don't like linears, I prefer a tactile bump and the V2's have that thicc bump ;)

What are the prices like? I'm in the market for some (67) browns

Okay so Black Inks V2, is $0.75c a switch if we take 2000. Shipping and duties we could probably make R120 per 100 switches. Thus is for Black Inks V2 Only. It's a really popular switch and I'm not sure if we could fill up all 2000 switches but if we can then we can ship immediately

So around R1330 for a hundred switches landed at my brother's place in Jhb.

Wow, that is almost Zealio pricing... What do these offer apart from being semi-transparent?

This would be very hard to say as everyone has their own preferences, however the Black Inks are amazing Premium linear switches, maybe a little scratchy without lube, but has a very beautiful deep thock to it. It's a go to switch for many enthusiasts
We are only taking 2000 switches so they come to around the same price as you'll pay at KBDFans for example, but they are a big company that buy these in large quantities. However shipping is the killer buying from KBDFans(and the fact that stock levels always sell out on these) and if we can get them between R120 to R160 delivered to Jhb with duties then that's where we save. Unless we can take 4000 switches and get them at $.68 a switch, but that extra .7c a switch is not bad

Zelios are tactile as well and if we go down that road there is a ton of amazing tactile switches out there, like the Boba switch. This is for the linear boys, especially those who already know what Gateron Black Inks are

Does anyone know where I can get my hands on some H1's? I have been dying to try some out.

PS , @Keyboard Kulture lube is amazing stuff. I've used it on both creams and gat yellows and cannot tell the difference between it and krytox 205 g0 (sound and feel wise). Great stuff!

Hey, all!
A couple of friends and I are doing custom printing on 900mm x 400mm mouse pads and I thought you guys might be interested.
Here's the post : Sale

Can anyone help? I'm a total noob at this, but I just want to build my own split keyboard. Specifically the lily58 Pro. Is there a local source for the MX key switch sockets, and TRRS sockets? I can get the diodes, and tactile switches from Mantech (Durban). The PCB I've priced from China (PCBway and JLCPCB). The rest, cables, oled, micro-controller, etc from Bangood/other.

Edit: Point me to some reasonably priced keycaps :)

Any advice welcome! This is my first full mechanical ever (other than some macro pads I've built)

Potentially interested. How do I get involved?

Keen for this

does anyone have experience with soldering? I think I broke my board. I know I broke it lol but I don't know if I can fix it or not

Does anyone know how to fix the RGB LEDs on a Corsair K95 keyboard? I will try to reflow the solder and hopefully, that will work. I have a few switches that don't display the right colors anymore...

I have the exact same issue on my RGB Strafe. Let me know if you come right as I would also like to fix it

Does anyone know where I can get Durock T1 clear housing switches at a decent shipping price/speed. I've been looking at Zelios V2's which is super easy to order and shipping is free with DHL on an order over $200 (will need someone to go in with me to get to $200). I made an account on Alibaba to try and gauge the cost but as soon as I put in their "verification code"......

The switch is around half the price of Zelios V2s : Durock T1-Durock T1 Manufacturers, Suppliers and Exporters on Alibaba.comPush Button Switches

Tactile, clear housing is the key here.

I saw it on Taobao, but you'll need to use a forwarder. DUROCK段落轴透明T1机械键盘轴67g镀金弹簧 类圣熊猫轴Holy Panda-淘宝网

If you apply reading perk, the info becomes apparent :p

I assume South Africa isn't considered a remote area, this would be referring to some small island I guess. Remote area is something that a courier would need to contract a smaller company who works the area to complete the delivery, like when you want to pickup/deliver a local parcel from/to a rural area.

Ahh gotcha, yes reading is important, I thought its free from Ali!

I usually go for linear, but keen to try a good tactile switch, I also need to replace the browns in my ducky that has experienced some spilliage.

I'll be keen to join if we can get the required numbers.

Aweh, Just chatting to @Razia he has an account with Alibaba set up. Although the price per switch is double from Zeal the free shipping makes it very inciting, I'd like to order 110 V2's so that's already $110.

Yeah shipping from China is quite scuffed atm, just look at the prices on Aliexpress, so if its anywhere close in price the zeals are probably better value.
