Hi all

Any ideas who I can contact in Centurion/Midrand/Pretoria that won't break the bank to have my starter repaired?

It got wet at some point during the wet months and I think it's corroded a bit.

Thanks

What's the symptoms bud? A family member has an i10 that they thought was the starter turned out to be the battery had a dead cell

It does the typical 'click' when a battery is at fault.

What concerns me is that the one time the car was on an incline and I tried to push start it, it sounded as if the starter broke loose from being seized.

The car has been standing for a while.

Just a stupid question have you tried another battery, not jump, different one?

Other than that, just Google around any good autolec should be able to recon the starter for, really a simple job to do, most of the time if it just clicks its the solenoid thats stuffed

Only if service was kept up to date at the dealer yes

and I think that a battery is considered a consumable type thing if it is the battery, so first make sure it is not the battery. A battery place should have a device that places a load on the battery, and see how it is able to hold up. This is without changing the battery and takes less than 5 minutes, the place I go to in the cape does this for free.

Any ideas where the F the starter is located on an i10 2012? I've got a replacement unit but I cannot find where to put it in

It should be in front, almost thin you'll need to take the intake manifold of to get to it,

It sits in front, bolted to the gearbox, remember to remove battery + while working on the car :)
