Gigabyte Z690 Ram Issue

Well well. Look what I found.

Two are Micron. One is Samsung. And the other is Hynix.
The stick that takes slightly longer to light up and the one that I got back from RMA is the Samsung memory.
So I have 4 diff memory modules with memory from 3 diff manufacturers.

Is this a potential issue?

Will post pics now Just wanted to remove the one stick and run HWIfno again to check I had the memory right for that stick.

It "shouldn't" be an issue, but evidently it can be, hence why kit ram became a thing after ddr2. Try run it at jedec speeds, so turn off xmp and see if you get any of the previously mentioned issues.

(the vengeance ram have "version" numbers on their packaging and labelling, but the general internet consensus is that this means nothing). That's why you should buy paired/kit ram to ensure you get ram that uses the same underlying memory.
Completely untrue. Overclockers will live by the version number and along with bin will give a damn good idea of what you have. Well as long are there aren't multiple manufacturing versions of the same die. Which is what happened with S8Bdie and the new 3200cl16 vengeance rgb pro sticks even though they are version 3.31 thus being S8Bdie but it's an updated Samsung process so performs like S8Cdie and not not like the old S8Bdie.

It is more likely than anything else to be the issue. Different ICs will have different "dram magic" that varies with manufacturer. At Jedec it really shouldn't be an issue but XMPs and when tuning it really will have an effect on the outcomes.

For the dominator series I agree, the mass produced vengeance on the other hand is a mixed bag.

The differing ICs are undoubtedly part of the issue. MRC with four different sticks and three unique ICs from diff vendors no less is quite a schlep. Tbh start small. First issue is sorting that calamity out. May as well not bother with adjusting TX and SA yet.

I did put a " " if you missed that.

Ok thanks guys. I clearly dont know enough about these things but it's common sense I feel that as a bare minimum they should at least match one another. Supplier had no way of knowing since ram isnt marked with what brand memory is in them. Although I now think they should be. Will speak to supplier.

That's why you buy kit ram, and for returns you return the whole set instead of individual sticks.

This has been resolved. Sent all 4 sticks back and had 4 returned, all with 100% matching modules. All Samsung.

Put all 4 in and PC booted up straight away. No issues or any crashes in any way.

@Oj0 has been a massive help and that's why I will continue to support you. Thanks a lot dude!
