What does the 18K entail?

Most of those prices are a bit high.

The list is as follows:

Bonnet (already sourced from a scrapped car): R 850
Windscreen (already paid for, but using a loan): R 1,550 - most urgent thing on the list
Alternator (already sourced from a scrapped car): R 1,500 - done using funds raised
Battery: R 1,200 - done using funds raised
Instrument cluster (already sourced from a scrapped car): R 2,000
Steering rack: R 1,200
Rear tires: R 1,100 for both
Throttle: R 1,300
Reverse light switch: R 200
Labour: R 4,000. It may seem excessive, but I have three quotes exceeding that amount for the steering rack alone

The cluster doesnt have to be changed for fuel level. You get aftermarket gauges thats cheaper.

There is more wrong with the cluster than just the fuel gauge. Someone previously abused it quite badly.

The windscreen is already replaced, the loan for that needs to be paid back end of this month.

Yup I know, there are plenty of places that need money, but to help someone local is always a good thing. So if you have an old sock this is I think a decent way of helping someone in need. I know the guy so its not a scam and his story is legit. He is a genuine guy taking care of his GF and 3...
