DOA GPU on a trade deal (both sides?)

Status

Either way, if i knew the history of the card which i also only found out now i wouldnt have taken it and wouldve requested a refund, and wouldve have looked for a other 6900xt.
The whole reason why i didnt request a refund after the second card was, because he said his partner is pissed as it 2 cards now and he doubts his partner is willing to refund. That when he mentioned the 3080 which i told him i dont want, he then said he has a 6900xt coming from jozi, and asked him specifically if its from the same batch of gpus the first 2 was, and he said no its his personal GPU. This is why i took the chance. He never said anything about it being a DOA return card from someone he sold it to already,

You stay in CT. Davoye Stays in Dbn. Schnitzer stays in JHB.

Seems to me like it's safe to assume the card that was coming from JHb is the card Schnitzer was sending from JHB?

Maybe check if the date the card was sent back to Durban matches time you were told this?

It is the same card, the serial numbers match.

Alrighty. Bummy card sold to @SCHNITZER ZA. @SCHNITZER ZA got a picture of a mining frame with cards in it, so I assume it's a mining card. Card arrived and it's bummy, because it's a bummy card. He cleaned out the dust from the card a bit, it improved the temps, and that made the card work for a bit. However, bummy card is bummy, so it bummed again.

In the meantime, @Del88 wanted a card. He got two mining cards from @DavoYE and both were also bummy. DavoYE told him there's another card coming, but didn't tell him it's bummy. @Del88 gets the card, card works for a bit (because it's cold), and then does the same as it did at @SCHNITZER ZA's place. Because, it's bummy.

So Del88 tells DavoYE that the card is also bummy, and DavoYE, knowing it's bummy, tells him to check the PSU? Del88 swaps PSUs and card miraculously works for a bit, before being shipped to @TRINITRON. Del88 believed it was the PSU. I also would have believed it, I guess.

Am I on the right path here?

I definitely didn't suspect it being a "bummy card" I also mentioned nothing about the psu. Had there been a issue with the card while at @Del88 , I would have exchanged it again. However I was under the impression the clean sorted it out.

@Del88 confirmed he was happy with the card, and says he sent a card which was still working to jhb.

If you think I'm being unfair, all good I'll swop the xfx for one which I have here that's working.

But for the rest, I have it quite well nailed down, I suspect. @DavoYE I don't think you're being unfair, but there were definitely issues with the card that you supplied. @SCHNITZER ZA can confirm this.

@Del88 I actually think you didn't know the card was broken when you sent it to @TRINITRON. I think you trusted the Reseller, and, I'll be honest, so do I. I don't think he tried to scam you or anything, but he maybe should have mentioned that a previous owner of the card had issues with it. But he didn't, and that's in the past.

@DavoYE that being said, the card (and others) that is broken originated from you, so what I do think is fair, is if you take the card back from @TRINITRON and replace it for him. Either with another working 6900, or that 3080, or whatever.

If nobody wants the 3080, I'll also take it. My 1060 would love an upgrade... (it's a joke)

@Del88, regarding the Asus TUF you've got now, though, I am honestly not 100% sure how to proceed. I can't expect @TRINITRON to refund you for a card that you physically worked on, and overclocked after the fact, because that's just not fair. What would be fair would be to ask if someone can help you source the parts so you can fix the card, because it seems like that's part of your job anyway.

I really doubt that a clean would have fixed the issues @SCHNITZER ZA was having, and I don't think it is right to just sell off the card the very next day without keeping it for longer and running in depth tests.

I am willing to send the merc to GPUworx for a proper inspection and write up on the issues.

But I would prefer a swap for a card that's actually working if that is as option, or a refund like what @SCHNITZER ZA got because I don't believe this card should have been sold on without a proper check, it ended up putting @Del88 in a tough spot where he came across as a scammer.

I understand it was a joke but if I do get that 3080 from @DavoYE I do actually want it sent to you first @Toxxyc

Like i told @TRINITRON i was happy with the card with its issues, as i knew thats fixable. The card did arrive DOA i fixed it, it died again and i didnt touch it again due to this whole dilemma, i have no issues with fixing it. As its probably just a solder or something i didnt do right. The same thing i told @DavoYE aswell, i would like to buy the two cards he gave me previously, but he said he needed to confirm with his partner first. I didnt reconfirm again as i got to busy. How ever im still open to buying it @DavoYE.

Aight, so we're approaching resolution here. @TRINITRON chat with DavoYE and get your card swapped for a sharp one. Or a 3080, or whatever. Lekker!

@Del88 chat to @TRINITRON about his offer on resolution from his side. He's a lekker bloke, he told me he's willing to help you as well, because he is aware that the Asus had an issue or two (which you accepted, but still).

@Toxxyc you have quite the way with words in this whole story, ever considered a Twilight novel series or 50 Grades of Gpus novel?

Secretly I was for @TRINITRON

If I had to write a story about Carbonite, it would be called Carbonightmare. Genre, horror-crime-mystery. Fictional, but based on real life events. It would also be a series, not just one book. I would also print a few books with no words on the pages, just empty paper between the covers, and if people complain I'll ask them why the hell they thought it would be a good idea to buy a book from a brand new writer with no feedback ratings yet.

This ended lekker! I love it.

So who is giving @Toxxyc an upgrade? He had to sort your dumbass kak out, everybody is happy in the end?

I don't need an upgrade, I'd just like it if @Ageless_ZA would let me smell the chocolate on the peanuts for once. Usually he just says I'm not worthy and throws me the luke-warm peanuts after he's licked off the chocolate. But, maybe I earned an upgrade for my cage...?

And i do apologise for lashing out at you in the beginning @Toxxyc

That's OK, it happens. Most people don't survive to tell the story though, so perhaps you should be the one to write the novel.

And Its working again (when i heated up the faulty vram chip to be replaced, i forgot to isolate the one next to it so the heat loosened it abit. (nothing a bit of flux and heat cant solve)

Timespy results (update 03/09/2023 decided to do timespy run after being satisfied that OC settings are stable after another time spy loop and some Warzone for few hours this morning)

Link to timespy run

im happy, been testing since yesterday and left it running on timespy loop till a hour ago.

temps and voltage after running the loop for about 6 hours and doing the benchmark

temps is nice doesnt go above 89 degrees with overclock (overclock numbers in the screenshot) and undervolted 1050v and fans at 50% @StangV2_0
@TRINITRON you can close the thread im happy if you are?
