Thanks, so ideally what would you recommend. This is looking ahead, not necessarily right now.

Well I cant recommend anything for gaming as I do not game at all. For productivity Id recommend a 27" 1440p monitor, not 4k as you will have issues with scaling in some adobe packages. 4k then go 32" or bigger. and get a ips or pls display.
for 21:9 get a 34' with 3440 x 1440 res, do not buy a curved monitor.

What would an ideal size monitor be for such a project? I know somebody offered a 19 inch, but best all round size for animation stuff, gaming and Media consumption?

I was thinking of finding one of those LG ultra wide ones if i can get it for under R2k

Animation studios have stuff that would make even your average 10K fancy gaming monitor look cheap as hell. Think 30K and up.

24" should be the minimum standard for everything. I know one gets smaller but they're daft, and certainly nothing suited to gaming or anything where you actually need to see all the details on the screen.

There's nothing big about a 24"

I have got a pc to run with the rx480 connected without shorting, but the card is not being picked up by the pc yet. will spend sometime in the morning with further troubleshooting

1. I managed to find a Core i3 6100 courtesy of smartnetintech (thank you for your help and great discount!)
2. SSD is on its way.
3. The build-off will start this week. I'm very much looking forward to it, thinking of possibly doing some vlogging, let me know if you would be interested in that.
4. Will arrange with everyone to get all the parts necessary for the build to me this week so it will be ready for the big build.
5. Blood_Bought is busy with something extra special for this build and we will keep everyone updated on how it goes.
6. I'm quite busy in the week so if you have anything to donate towards the build please PM me so I can arrange with you to get it picked up.

Havent had a chance to go back on the rx480 will try and score sometime this evening. the gtx660 doesnt display and it seems its a bios issue.
Nvflash detects the card but cannot flash to the chip, will replace the chip and see if the bios can be updated and hopefully get the card up and running.

I bought this [Sale] - Tower: i5 4590, 8 GB RAM, GeForce GTX 660 | Combo (multi-item) sales & full systems , the gtx660 can be used for this build it can just be upgraded if the rx480 is fixed. we can sort courier logistics from tomorrow

I am in Potchefstroom, a far ways (I know) but I'll arrange for shipping. I will cover the costs for shipping to get everything to me.
So far I have the following donations:
1. QYV for some RGB goodness. I know Fox22743 does RGB Lighting, might be able to get a controller from him.
2. Flex for a 80mm green LED fan. Gonna look sick yo!
3. Anonymous donater has donated R300.00 to this here build! Whoop whoop!!!
4. PickleRick for a mouse and some RAM to speed up this child's future (can I detect the next Incredibles coming?)
5. MSI1104 for a monitor. Gonna need something to display all that power on.
6. Icemanbrfc is sacrificing his 120 GB SSD that would have been a neat upgrade for his lappy!
7. BARGUILD potentially for a RX 470 4GB. ScorpioMan86 has looked at some boards for me in the past, will contact him and find out if he can have a look at it. Otherwise I might just decide to bake it LOL.

So far that is the list, I do hope that everyone can get on board with this as it is a once in a life-time opportunity to invest in someone's future. Someone once made a difference for all of us. It's just something to think about.

ScorpionMan, ill pm you on the card to arrange shipping to Maximums. Just need everybody to indicate what needs to go to Maximums, and what can just come straight to me. Whatever is essential for the build, wil go straight to Maximums. Gfx card, lights, fans, etc. Speakers, keyboards, mice etc can just be shipped straight to me.
