Bikers!?

Don't think I've ever seen someone mention a K75 before.
I rode my father's K75S for about a year back in my school days.
That early fuel injection technology after riding something more modern, Turbo lag without the turbo xD
Also leaning those things on their side stands were a really great way to burn some of it's oil on startup.
To be fair it did ride well and was actually quite comfy granted it's age but compared to a R1100-R1250 the K75 definitely didn't rock from side to side nearly as badly as they do.
My father also showed me how to machine parts for it, Fuel pump bracket, Fuel rail, spacers and more because the parts were poes expensive even then. A fuel pump bracket was a R2.8k special order from Germany. Instead we got some plastic that wouldn't be eaten by the fuel as it sits inside the tank and I stood there for a Saturday with my dad looking over my shoulder making sure I don't fck it up lol.
Hmm I actually know more about machining than I will ever use for the rest of my life most likely.

Edit: BMW make Parallel twins, Inline 4s, six cylinders and even them poofte singles which none of them rock side to side :p

I loved that K75 - big ass screen made it look more like a delivery bike, but it sure kept the wind & bugs off. Mine was bought from a shop in Wynberg, on Pta Main Rd just off Arkwright, can't remember the name anymore. Did almost 30k km's in the first year, went through a hell of a divorce & decided to spend as much time riding as I could - not like I had a home to go to anymore.
Traded it for a VTR Firestorm, which, with a pair of Arrow end-cans, certainly sounded better :ROFLMAO:. The ladies also found the VTR far more attractive / exciting!

I had the misfortune of owning a Suzuki GS450 when I was doing National Service. Put me off the brand for life, and also instilled in me a distrust of parallel twins. To this day I do not like them. As for big singles, they should all be the old thumper type, XT600, XR650 etc, not the pansy looking F650! :p:ROFLMAO:

I did Jozi - Cullinan - Harties - Jozi last weekend, all via back roads. Was good. If my son gets his bike back from service on Friday then we'll probably head out to Whispering Oak Garden in Cullinan this weekend for brekkie, then stop past Bernies Joint on the way back.

So we did go out to Cullinan this morning. Breakfast at Whispering Oaks was great, then instead of stopping past Bernies Joint or popping in to say hi to a few mates at The Other Place, we decided it was such a great morning to ride, so we went Brits, Harties and finally stopped off at KPC en route home to see the new Pavilion SWAMBO has created and spend some time watching the horses at the Toyota Easter Festival which started yesterday & ends on Easter Monday.
Just got home & cracked the first beer of the day! Bike needs a wash, but that's next weeks problem!

Bernies Joint is hosting an American Muscle Car day on 14 April, so we will visit then, KPC has showjumping next weekend - Sunday & Monday are the big days so will be back there again (after a ride :D )
Anyone wanting to join is welcome, drop a PM & we can arrange from there.

I will try to find a video for yall on that R18, but even if u are idling in neutral and give it a little bit of petrol / rev the whole bike swings to the left.

Sadly this weekend is a busy one for me. The only days I have open for a ride is Friday or Monday. The other days re already booked etc for other shit haha.

Not sure if we / I will ride Monday, will post in this thread if we decide to do so. I'm keen to go to Loskop again & then do Kranspoort a few times before coming back via Middelburg. Just need to find a nicer way there than the Bronkies to Groblersdal route, which is absolute shyte with potholes big enough to swallow a bike whole, and dirt sections through the informal settlements.

I also neglected to mention that Saturday 30th is HAMC West Rand 30th Anniversary day jol, so I'll be there for a portion of the day. Will undoubtedly be a good party!

Friday for me is open. Saturday, we have an airsoft match, Sunday we have a braai, and Monday is open again haha.

How come we aren't getting the new CBR600RR?
That thing looks so hot , 🥵
I don't like the look of it.
08-11 blade does it for me in the looks department when it comes to the CBR
As to why it's probably not coming to SA, Same as every 600 superbike. There is no real market for them in SA. People want the big daddy superbikes

Was going to replace my radiators. Decided not to.

Hey Bikers! So, first time bike owner here. Just got a bike a couple weeks back, and of course a little bit of a fixer upper. Problem is, my mechanical knowledge is worse than anything. I got me a BMW bike, it doesn't really need anything mechanically but could use some love. First on the agenda is a proper service, and then I need some fasteners and grommets here and there. Does anyone know a company that I can go to that won't cost me an arm an a leg, to get these spares?

In polokwane I dont know. But when I want to avoid Harley's exaggerated price tags on general wear and tear parts I go to MotoMate in Rivonia, jhb. But Im not sure if they deliver parts.

What bike did u get?

Startline maybe, they have large assortment of goodies for tons of bikes...

Small bits and pieces won't be sooo expensive even at a dealership or stalk Facebook marketplace for used parts, regular oil changes can be done by yourself.

Just YouTube whatever bike you have and oil change , BAM!
I personally change oil twice a year since it's so affordable compared to destroying your motor running dry.
That's why even for the slightest of itches by your asshole it's nice to use vaseline

Also rule 1: You buy a bike you post a picture here!

So the POPO were on the R511 out by Lanseria again over the weekend. Speed trapping - anyone doing more than 40km/h over the speed limit = go directly to jail. Phone a maatjie to bring R2,5k for police bail, otherwise sit in cell until we take you to court today.

FB & WA groups were alight with the bitching and complaining yesterday & this morning. They were targeting everyone, not just bikes.
Revenue collection at it's finest. Double lane dual carriageway with no intersecting roads except at stop streets and it's an 80km/h zone.

Appreciate that, I'll give them a shout tomorrow

BMW R1150R!

Ah, yeah no, pretty rude of me not to have posted the picture, but will do soonest!

So this is my first bike, honestly hope I didn't do too badly! Should have came for advise here but as with anything in my life, impulse buy! I'm actually sorting out registration today and should have that done by tomorrow. Then nice little service and we're good

Very nice, this has a boxer engine right?

Maybe u can clear the air on something. if u give it a small rev while idling does the whole bike swing to the left?
I took a R18 Bagger out for a spin few weeks back and whenever u give it petrol the whole bike swings to the left. Apparently thats just how they work but it made stop go riding a chore on that heavy bike.

That sounds terrible.

That is indeed the boxer, and yes they do also twist like that.
Friend of mine had the same bike, his was to the right though.

That sounds terrible.
Sounds like it would be, but its not. In the corners and can mess with you. But the child in me enjoyed the crap out of it.
Bored at a light ? Just a slight twist of the wrist and the bike literally comes to life.

Was fuck cool :ROFLMAO:
10/10, would recommend.

Can confirm it's a boxer thing, although my 1200 GSA LC one only starts to tweak above about 4k RPMs, below that it's remarkably stable, or I don't notice. I surmise it's the latter...
Not a bug, but a rather cool feature in my opinion:D.

Also @Wacko_ZA , I went and looked at the 1300GS today, and I do have to say that in person it looks much better than it does in the photos, would happily purchase one. I am redacting my statement about it being a downgrade in the looks department:). Would be keen to give it a test ride at some point.

I honestly haven't experienced this yet. Yes, its a twin boxer type engine, a little bit of vibration assuming because of the way the pistons interact with the crankshaft but according to my knowledge the whole point of the boxer type is for balance, equal forces from both sides.. Makes for some vibration but haven't felt it going to any side yet. This one has some weight to it, and it's Propshafts with final drive operated, as well as balanced bar so I don't know if that has anything to do with it

Put it in neutral, let it idle, blip the throttle to +-3k rpm.
You'll feel it.

Its not as big while riding because the RPMs never climb quick enough to make that big of an impact.
