Bikers!?

I think the fuel economy is too good for you, you're already used to a bike that chugs, why not an H2 ?
Expensive...
Also absolutely loathe how the new gen Kawa's look
If you get one of those fugly bikes then you'd be spending more money on maintaining the supercharger alone than the rest of the bike.
Also their fuel consumption isn't that much more than the average 1L superbike surprisingly enough, Similar to a Busa or ZX14 and considering they weigh about the same.

I recently tested a 2023 S1000R and if I wasn't planning on leaving the country I would have bought it. Just a brilliant bike/engine.
I think you'd be quite happy with a BMW.

First half of your message had me thinking you were talking about the S1000RR, then I saw the bit about the weight and i was like what....
But yea, reviews on the 2023 all seem amazing, provided you don't get the M1000RR which has a habit of self detonating it's engine and requires a rebuild like every 20k km

Well, the first line has the world "Supercharger" in it xD.......

wonder what the insurance must be on those. One small drop and it will be right off!
The M1000RR looks like a even bigger trap , when I saw one close up with all its carbon and carbon winglets i was like damn one small tip and you're screwed 😨

Im more worried about the carbon rims tbh... coz with the average condition our roads are in those things are bound to see there ass long before it's paid off...

Regardless of road conditions I would not ride carbon rims on the road. One small judgement error on a speedbump or angle somewhere and bibi. :( But you can always swop the rims with someone for some forged ones with some cash difference when you get her. The non M variant is also a beast.

Yea, I think the option I am looking at comes with the M forged rims, although they are like 27k extra.

Small note, forged wheels are also quite sensitive to our wonderful national flower...ze pothole.... in most user manuals they recommend running harder TP's to try and limit damage to them... ask a 2x V4 owner.
But... its why we have insurance...RIGHT?

Spent a bunch of time just cleaning and degreasing things, as well as sorting through what parts I do and don't have.

Then rebuilt the clutch and got that sorted. Started rebuilding the magneto but couldn't find the woodruff key so that got stalled. Decided to mount the engine in the meantime but couldn't due the the swingarm being in the way, so removed the swingarm which was harder than it should have been. I'm learning as I go - sequencing is important ;)

Got the engine in the frame but it was midday and about 33' so I took a break to cool off. Then the weather came and things got put on hold. Went back to complete the engine install but my back gave out - working low is not great for the lower back.

Next steps will be to complete the engine install, then decide which swingarm I want to use and get it mounted. From there, radiators, carb and exhaust probably.

Plan is to take it for a ride this weekend :D

So sick!

Haven't been following this thread too closely, did you buy everything loose or bought assembled and then stripped it down and now reassembling?

Handful of things you could do, but I'd make sure the swingarm and neck (bars) bearings are properly cleaned and greased.

It was an abandoned project bike. I have most of everything I believe - in some cases multiple parts (2 swingarms, set of forks, 4 wheels, extra clutch etc).

I'll definitely be cleaning and regreasing all bearings and such. There's some surface rust on a few parts so I'm cleaning as I go. It won't be pristine but I'd like it to be as good as possible.

Y'all busy talking about s1000rr and here I went to test ride the R18 bagger the other weekend 🤣 feels like I am the only one riding old man bikes. It's a lovely bike.

I'm considering going back to a mid sport bike. Want to test the new ninja 650 and yzf r7

lol, Why you want that 10 ton Harley wannabe? xD
The Ninja 650 is a tried and tested motor but a bit bland. I would lean towards the R7 purely because I think the motor is a bit more energetic.
If you want some noice sport bike, Why not a GSXR 750? ;P

I wanna give the gsxr 750 a shot, but for some reason I keep thinking I am gonna be too short for it. I have gotten used to being flat footed on the harleys. 167cm tall

Please call me when you go look at the 750.
I definitely need to come and have a look at a dude who can't fit on that tiny pocket rocket xD
Will also take pictures for proof :p

Sport bikes are so light you just need to tippy toe , 100% agree with @D3TTOL in seeing that 750 , even the z900 goes on special which makes the 650 and R7 look irrelevant

I was actually looking at a 2023 Z900 the other day. R120k new and was offered R15k discount because the salesman was really trying to sell it. If they are still willing to give me that deal end of April then I'll be getting it.
I was surprised at all the stuff that comes with it. Riding modes, TC' ABS etc.

Also a screamer motor to make your neighbours love you more 😛

Last year of manufacture for the 750 was 2017/18/19 if I recall. Most of them have had the snot ridden out of them - either on track or by twatwaffles at rallies bouncing them off the limiter.
It is never advisable to purchase a supersport/superbike (or in-betweener in this case) unless you know the previous owner & how it was treated.

Sort of (un)related example: We have a doos of a neighbour who parties like it's 1999. And fuck the rest of the community. Last Saturday they are at it again, and around 22h30 some doos arrives in their car - popping and farting like only electronics dumping fuel can (because a doos cannot downshift & rev-match/throttle blip at the same time). Bounces it off the limiter a few times, foks voort up and down the road. Part folk come out and go batshit crazy cheering and whatever.
It then fucks off & we hear it going round the area. Comes back 45 minutes later, still bouncing off limiter & being a doos racing up & down the road. Parks in neighbours driveway. Tries to reverse out. We hear some "Ooohs and Aaahs"

All goes quiet. (from the car - noisy cunts partied until 04h00).

Sunday morning I see a bumper/valance/front end lying in their driveway. Plus some other bits lying in the road. Behind a brand new Golf 8 R - still with paper plates.

Monday a flatbed trailer arrives to take the car (and it's loose front end) away.

Brannas het nie brieke.
Van afshow kom kakshow.

Karma is beautiful. Wonder what bullshit they will tell insurance?

GSX-R750, Suzuki Motorcycle - Biker’s Warehouse

You can still get them new in SA

Also seems they are still being produced
Suzuki Cycles - 2024 GSX-R750

That's a solid deal.

I see them on Autotrader selling for quite a bit higher than that. My ballie wants the z900, if you don't take it please let me know where this deal is. Thanks man

Will do, I've seen them go for around R160k on special. So getting a deal for R105k for a new, still plastic on the seat, bike is a steal.
The guy knows me and I think he's just trying to get rid of stock. Seems like he's going to focus more on servicing than selling bikes. Been going to him for services since I was a laaitie, He gooied me his busa keys when I was still riding a SV650 years ago and I went from 0-shit in pants in about 2 seconds flat. Him and my mother went to school together lol.
If I don't take it and it's still available I'll get your info and ask him to gooi you the same deal.

Now that I think about it... I'm definitely not going to reveal them yet. One of you guys might snipe it from underneath me 😶

100%, thanks bro.

Not trying to snipe at all haha!

So it seems it is still the 2011 variant, with colour changes made in 2020. SA stock is probably ancient, but it's still a good bike. (y)(y)

A few friends had them as track bikes, they were pretty damn quick around Phakisa, & the old Kyalami circuit in the right hands.
Well Don't try fix what is not broken I guess xD

When the hell did a 800-1000cc motorcycle become "mid-sized"

I've been seeing articles comparing middleweight bikes. They compare things like the Z900, KTM 890, BMW 900, MT09 and hell, even the V2 streetfighter is now a "Middleweight" bike with 150hp on tap.

I remember mid sized bikes maxing at 650cc/700cc and at most making 80-90hp.

I've also been seeing this. What's a heavyweight bike then, a Triumph Rocket?
