Bikers!?

I need to get a new set of wheels on mine as well... The rear I will be getting is the Pirelli Diablo Rosso III 240/45ZR17. Will most likely do it in the next couple of months, still ok for now. Just had the DESMO done on her hehe. If you know, you know.

I second this. If you stick with decent brands you will be fine @BlackmistZA .

I personally run Scorpion Trail 2 on my Multistrada V4 and Michelin Anakee Wilds on my 950.

I used to enjoy the Pirelli Angel GT on my S1000R. I think they will work great on your 390.
Just not a fan of bridgestones...
Personally found the A41 exceptionally noisy and the balancing on the tyre was way off (80g of weights, new pirelli brought that down to ~10g).
Tyre did not like cornering much, found it difficult to get the bike to turn in on corners, just didn't grip enough when leaned.

The new scorpion trail 3's have been released, probably what I will fit next.
If you do fit the Pirelli's, take it very easy for the first 200km @BlackmistZA

Sheeeeesh. Unacceptable. Consequence of the desmo service or another failure? I would be absolutely livid with my mech if it is the prior.
The oil filter seal was faulty.... They had to replace and clean the bike. Also had them refund me 30% of the bill. FYI, it wasnt Ducati that did the service.

Glad there was no incident dude... I would've completely lost my shit if it was my bike. I once stopped with a loose rear-set on my Panigale... The mech also received a loud earful the next day.

We entrust our lives to these machines, and the people that work on them. 'Mistakes' such as a faulty oil filter seal is simply unacceptable. Good that you received a discount on top of the shenanigans.

But did you deliver a fresh PK?

Im heading out to Culinan on Saturday morning, just to get some mileage on the bike after its service. Going with a client of mine, he is taking his 250 CBR, so its gonna be a chilled ride.

If anyone wants to tag along, let me know.

Be careful, he might just beat you out the gates like that 660 did😛

Just a reminder, for anyone wanting to join a chilled ride, let me know. Oi, Mr @FancyPantsMan you wanna tag along and take your baby for a ride? LOL or is she too fast for such a chilled ride haha

If you're going out to Cullinan it would be opportune to stop in at Bernies Joint in Koedoespoort on the way back.

Yeah I have. Had them on the as well S1k and ran a set through on my Panigale. Definitely a better tire, but didn't wear as long. For street riding the Angel GT was enough to fuck around and hoon with the naked. I ruined a pair of riding jeans on an offramp with the Angels.

The Rosso 3s are undoubtedly the better sport tire.
Are the Mitas MT07's still a thing? I did a tour around SA/Namibia/Botswana over 10 years ago on the MT07's, and they were praised by a number of people back then.

Anyone have suggestions for a good set of waterproof/resistant adventure pants?
Would the overpants route be a better bet?

Update on the 1200, done just short of 1500km already, and I will say I am thoroughly enjoying it.
Fitted a few creature comforts and some dual beam spots from UltraLED, very impressed with the yellow and white combo beam the spots have.

I'm liking the cleaner look but not sure if its too bland.

Maybe need to do the decals on the tank and add some to the side fairings?

Noice! I'd just add some tank grips to make the tank seem less bland and make your ride easier.

I think the fuel economy is too good for you, you're already used to a bike that chugs, why not an H2 ?
But yea, the fuel economy is one of the reasons I am looking at the S1000RR.
That and it has all the nice features to make playing with the bike more fun.

+1

They became too angular with odd proportions.

The newest shape looks like they took an axe shape the nose.
Yea, not sure what Kawa did, but even the 600s weigh as much as the 1000s for some reason... they used to be super light making them fun toys to fuck about on.

The R1 production is also coming to an end , might be good to hold on to a R1M 🤔

Had a look at the price of those as well, also a tad out of budget.
They do look good though, even though I have never been a fan of the R1's and their tendency to self detonate their sprag clutches.

Personally I would not go near an R1. Had 2 mates purchase bikes (2008, so pre big-bang models) that were sponsored by Yamaha SA for the CSS instructors. Both ran bottom end bearings (requiring complete bottom end rebuild) & clutches before reaching 15,000km's.
One is currently still owned by a mate who moved to CT - it's done less than 1,000km's since the rebuild 14+ years ago. He can't be bothered to ride it anymore & won't sell it as he knows the motor is basically a time bomb.
