Bikers!?

First bike: Yamaha FZ-6 Fazer
Current bike: 2017 Suzuki V-Strom XT *and* 1986 Honda CD-200 (WIP)
Dream bike: Not sure. Maybe Yamaha R1, maybe Honda Goldwing

Does anybody know about WheelzOnline? These guys have some decently priced motorcycles and great inventory, just not sure how trustworthy they are. I see them selling bikes all the time but have zero reviews on google and a few other places.

Asked around a bit and nobody in my circle have used them before.

That old rule about things being too good to be true applies here I think. Also, please don't buy anything you haven't seen or ridden yourself.

Thanks for trying!

They aren't "too good" to be true or anything like that, they just get a decent selection.
Durban is dead deaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad for any of the motorcycles I am considering, so doubt I can fly around ZA trying to find something :( Bikeshop Boksburg said they knew the owner and were legit.

Asked around as well, people say its the same owner as the previously known shop Mikes Bikes - Why they "rebranded", I don't know.

Depending on who you spoke to at Bikeshop Boksburg they may well be legit.

Rather look at Fire It Up. They ship bikes & give a warranty. Also, in terms of the CPA, if they (any dealer) sell you a POS you have the option to return it and ask for money back or exchange for something else.

That said, I looked at Bikeshop (I now call them BS) Rivonia when they had a low mileage BlackBird earlier this year.
They were selling it as a 2001 model. But it had an analogue instrument cluster. And having previously bought a 2001 BlackBird new out the crate I knew that it should be a digital instrument cluster.
A little digging via VIN numbers revealed it was actually a 1999 model. When I queried this with them, I was told that "it was registered in 2001".
But.
That does not make it a 2001 model.
It was in fair condition - needed new chain, front & rear sprockets & both front & rear tyres, so knowing that the motors are practically bulletproof I asked them to consider making a price adjustment & get back to me with a fair price.
I was met with first lies about the year model, then grudging agreement when I pointed out the facts, and then disdain & indifference.

So I will NEVER go back to either of their shops.
It may have been a genuine mistake. But the salesman's disdain & lack of response was not on.
Pity the poor doos who bought it and gets given a rude wake up when he tries to buy parts or sell it.

Unfortunately, someone has had a bad experience at each and every dealer. Ask any GS guy who their preferred BMW dealer is... They always have massive praise for the one who eventually sorted out their issue, and hate all the others.

The CPA is not something to rely on. It is still in your best interest to do your own due diligence and make sure you get a decent bike, as far as is possible. At best, the dealership might help you out, at worst you sit in a situation where the act will only help you as far as you are willing to pursue legal action. There is a bare minimum a dealership has to do in order to make it an extremely lengthy process. I see the CPA as an absolute last resort, but it is definitely not as simple as 'giving the bike back'. The dealership also has quite a few options under the same banner. Edit: Get everything in writing from a dealer. Confirm each claim and statement they make via email/whatsapp so you have it writing. It is a big help if you want to follow through with legal action if it comes to that.

I HATE that companies can legally advertise cars/bikes/boats/planes as the year they were registered in. It does not make sense in my small brain. Selling a 1999 as a 2001 is absolute bs. I went to look at a car about a year ago where they had the model number wrong... They had a facelift model number advertised because the car was registered a year late. Klomp kak! Always, always, always, ALWAYS check the VIN. I get that mistakes happen, but majority of the time it feels like an intentional misrepresentation to make the car/bike appear more valuable.

Howzit bikers. I need bike lessons in preparation for my license test. I am based in and around the Sandton area. Do any of you know or recommend any "schools" that give lessons ? Thanks in advance.

I'd recommend either of the following - I know them both personally & have ridden with them as well.

Whilst they both do tours, they also have excellent beginner & intermediate courses for novices.

Andy Biram - Adventure Academy: http://www.adventureacademy.co.za/motorcycle-training/

Rainer Moosmuller - Intibane Tours & Synergy Riding Academy: K53 Training | Track Rider Training | Road Skill Training

Good luck & have fun. Remember - the K53 course will teach you how to pass the K53 test, it will not teach you how to be safe & ride defensively. Invest in an intermediate course soon after you get your license to further your skills.

Need some people to mourn with me;

Its been 3 years since I bought the bike, and to date I could say it has never been dropped.
Today I was busy prepping it for a wash, the bike ran forward and the paddock stand gave way.
been washing the bike in the exact same spot for two years and not once has it budged, till today.

lever scratched, bar end mirror completely fucked, stator cover scratches, footpeg and shift lever scratches - that looks like the only damage

I know its minor damage, might just fix it myself and not bother with an insurance claim, but fuck me I'm pissed at myself.

Now I have a BMW GS 800

Just a heads up if anyone's keen. This Ducati 1098s Tricolore is for sale - 14000km, R155k
Includes all the original pipes, pillion pegs etc.

Is this a beginner bike?

jokes aside what year, want to throw this at my fiance even though she swore never to buy a Ducati, its pretty fun to send her ones for sale.

He didn’t mention the year. It’s advertised on Wild Dogs. Dude is in Cape Town

Anyone perhaps bought from motobitz co.za before?

Looking for a set of frame sliders and they're the cheapest by far.

But they have no physical address, refuse personal collection even though the item is in stock, have no physical address listen and zero reviews anywhere.

Cheapest by far
No physical address
Refuse collection
No reviews.

I don't know bru. Website has been around since 2016, not that that means much.

And all things considered, its not the greatest website but it doesn't scream scam.

Exactly why I'm unsure of what to do

Lets see if the guy is willing to add them onto his list. Takealot doesn't currently list what I want

So, while the bike is in being repaired I figured that I would spend some money and do some minor upgrades.

First off was getting rid of those horrid brake discs.
For those that dont know, this is what they look like;

Obviously I did new brake pads along with them, and because it was due, a pilot road 6 combo.

Frame sliders should arrive monday then they'll also be added on. Should get the bike back late next week.
