Hey guys
Having trouble deciding...
What would you buy ... Samsung S27A950D or Dell U2711? And why?
I mostly game on my PC but love good picture quality also so I'm having a tough time picking one ;)

BTW. I run a 2600k with a GTX590. (If that helps you decide)

>>> Forgot to mention ... I'm not really concerned about 3D ... I personally don't think the tech is far enough for me to buy a monitor just for that. <<<

Since I do feel that 3d is the biggest load of rubbish - until it get's properly perfected - the sammy holds no appeal to me. And since I have the pleasure of working on that model dell at my client I would recommend the dell hands down.

Dell so far is the only brand of monitor where I can actually physically SEE a discernible difference immediately when working on it and going back to my own screen.

Dell hands down.

gaming go for sa950 its low ms response time, and okes say its insane(ss and few other guys have it, some even in eyefinty)

dell is better for photoshop etc, because of its insane res you have more space to work with, though dell have very good image quality ,and games will look good on it also, so its a tough one :p

I know HereticAngel ... Thats my problem :(
Sammy is awesome for games (more than the Dell) and the Dell is better for picture quality and resolution ... It is indeed "a tough one"!!!

... and NO I don't have money for both like some of my fellow forumites suggest! ... lmao! :D

I would say buy me either and your concerns will be over no need to worry. :p

Anyways, i think you'll put that 590 to good use with the dell:)

The sammy is costly because of the 3D and if you not buying it for the 3D its kind of a waste. Get the Dell and play games at high res:)
Going on the style and look of the monitors i would say the sammy wins, but its big thing is the 3D

IF I win the lotto today, I promise to do just that! :)

I'm thinking I will need another one?

Not really dude ... the monitor (because of its 3D feature) has 120Hz which most ppl say is better than 60Hz when playing games (3D feature will be turned off by me btw) AND it has a lower input lag than the Dell (but I also don't think the input lag on the Dell would be of serious concern for me?)

Yes but its lower res so the Dell should still have finer edges.

If the dell is the same one brad has then i think the sammy would be nicer. The Dell is bulky and im happy with 1080p, PLUS i think the 3D is a nice to have if you wasting all that money anyways:)

Yep ... Dell is a more "bulky" setup but I'm not too concerned with the looks ... just performance :)
I'm really not blown away by 3D dude... rather have something crisp and clear IMO.
Not sure about Brad (Fox?) but I know DM has one :)

The DELL hands down, just wait till you start gaming at 2560 x 1440...

The 30" IPS screens like the W3008WFP are even better, but very expensive, and rarely available second hand.

Nope, was lucky enough to grab Lanshark's LG-W3000H 30" IPS screen...

I currently have 3 x S27A950Ds and a single 3008WFP

I use both setups for gaming and I havent felt any input lag etc from the Dell yet (I'm not a hectic gamer, only play some COD and LOL)

but If you're gonna game and watch some movies etc, go for the 950s.
It's cheaper, crisp clear, nice 3D function that might come into handy some day with improved games/software, and doesnt heat as much as the Dells :)

I have owned most of the 24" Dell models, the old 2707WFP and now the 3008WFP. Dells screens rule if you can justify the cost. Build and visual quality make it worth it for me.

In saying that, I do love Samsung and would love to try these new screens.

The Sammy. 120Hz is an awesome change from 60Hz or even 75Hz, everything feels more fluid and it feels as if you react quicker (it could just be me). I had the Dell, and the problem is that unless you're playing a really slow game you don't get a chance to notice that a colour is two tones more accurate. If you're doing photo editing, get the Dell - no questions asked. If you're gaming, get the Sammy - 120Hz is where it's at.

Lol ... for every Dell recommend, there is a Sammy one
One thing I HAVE noticed tho is that there are 2 or 3 Dell users that have gone the Sammy route and have suggested the Sammy.
Maybe I don't need the BEST of the best in my price range... just what's best for me right now... I think I'm leaning toward the Sammy from a feature vs performance vs price difference view.
I must admit it feels so good to get off that fence I was sitting on ... my balls were beginning to hurt!

Don't forget 1600p. It makes a huge difference over 1080p for gaming.

No verdict? All this hype ended with failure to buy the monitor?
