List of good anime!

I don't see how you can be critical of Elfen Lied's story and mention Trinity Blood as being better. It's been ages since I saw those shows but I was left feeling indifferent about Trinity (specifically with the story and ending) while I enjoyed Elfen. Different strokes I guess.

I would add:

Psycho Pass

Because Trinity Bloody and Elfen Lied both set up interesting plot lines...and then unceremoniously end. Also both shows are obviously on the gorier/bloodier side. Trinity Blood has Vampires, something other than vampires and a Victorian Gothic mixed setting with at least one interesting plot twist and lots of good CGI/animation mixed fights. Elven Song has Nyuu and bony cat ears on a couple of other girls (and there was one guy I think though he doesn't have invisible murder tentacles?).

Note I'm not saying Trinity Blood is good and belongs here, at least not with that ending, but Krznik > Diclonius.

Haven't watched it yet, for some raisin it puts all the unrated stuff at the top of the list. I enjoy awkward giggles will maybe force it through this weekend.

Lelouche of the rebellion
Eden of the East

P.S, if you find yourself not liking anime because the pace is slow... you most likely wont like any of those.

I love deathnote's opening - and yes these are slooooow starters but all of them great

Ahh, I gotcha. I should give Elfen Lied a rewatch but it was pretty heavy and I don't think I can stomach it again. I do remember loving it despite that and it does seem to be a polarising show.

- Parasyte the Maxim
- Shiki
- Ajin

I am also looking for suggestions of really good horror animes from those who have watched them. So far, aside from the obvious Tokyo Ghoul, Attack on Titan (Horror? I dunno) and Deadman Wonderland I have also really enjoyed Another. Looking for more of a similar vein to Another and Tokyo Ghoul though. Suggestions?

Claymore was possibly the best anime i ever watched but ended to quickly.......also i know OP said no long standing anime ...but gotta mention Fairytail and samurai champloo if my spelling is correct lol

Champloo was amazing - if you have tihe movie please watch the sword of the stranger, (im not a fan of fairytail it feels too copy pasted for my tastes )

Golden boy - Ecchi - Slice of lifeish
Sword of the stranger - Will have a few genres but its truly a work of art (the fight scenes are very technical similar to Cowboy Bebop)
