Mine Bitcoins? Wanna mine Bitcoins? It's fun and profitable, especially with ATi hardware! If so, consider coming to ZABitcoin mining pool! I wanna join but we need more members to get the hashing rate up, so I'll join if more people wanna come. Anyone keen? ZA Bitcoin Mining Pool

About $17 to the coin. Well right now I mine with Slush's pool. BTCMine are also a good pool. With two 6950's you can get about 700Mhashes a second, which is like 0.8 Bitcoins every 24 hours. Not too bad.

Well not quite. The mining difficulty is increasing at a tremendous pace. This is because only a limited amount of bitcoins are awarded out in a certain time, but the bitcoin mining network is growing very quickly, hence difficulty rises. That said I believe the bitcoin could rise even more in value in the future because of this.

Ok thanks for the info :) Now one more question, will I be able to DL/Game while coining?

DL yes. Game? Well you can turn the priority down which slows down mining, I just pause it when I launch a game.

OK some bitcoin basics:
Bitcoin is complicated! To learn more about bitcoin google it and stuff there's a lot out there. It's a distributed, peer to peer currency which is open source. Bitcoin distribution is limited so not just anyone can make one. Mining:You perform work for the bitcoin network and they award bitcoins in blocks of 50. GPU's are much more efficient than CPU's, especially ATi GPU's right now. People mine together in Pools because a block is very difficult to obtain, even with many PC's.

Oh, and if you guys wanna sell bitcoins, I'll buy!

Just be careful of the malware going around now that looks for the .dat file that has all your coins in. Some poor sod lost 25000 recently when the market crashed and they devalued to under a dollar

what can you use the bitcoins for? do you actually exchange it for reall cash?

If you want to mine, do it properly :p

And don't do what I did and celebrate the BTC hitting $0.80 - my $25 could've been $900 had I sold a few weeks later /laughs and cries

Yip, face palm indeed. Dedicated mining cards (not GPUs) will beat the pants out of his setup.

FFS - someone give me a link here so I can read up on it properly... I've been hearing about this, but can't find much detail on what exactly it is, and how the hell to get into it..

If ATI's are favoured, my 5970 + 5870 trifire setup should be able to crank out a fair bit.

I'm in for the while that I have internets. Wheres our pool?

Link is on the first post. My advice:don't go there, go to a big pool for a more consistent income.

How exactly does the bitcoin-network/infastructure keep time?

Oh I made money alright, and had I sold my coins a few months later than I did I would have walked away with just under R60k. However, it was a phase and isn't worth the strain you put on your hardware anymore, never mind the electricity.

Would anyone be willing to sell me a small amonut of bitcoin? (haha dam that sounds badass :p)
I'm looking for a small amount say R25? I can do airtime/eft/cash deposit?

Whatever for? If you really want some BTC just to say you have them, start mining with your graphics card, whatever it is.
