Hey, so I've also been asking myself this same question, I'm tired of PC gaming (pc reminds me of work) so i want a console to just play games on my couch all weekend with no distractions from all the other shit on my PC.
So i looked around, xbox one s, ps4, pro and one x etc. I couldn't make up my mind until today. I had my mind set on the ps4 pro for a while and was about to drop cash on one today but then i decided to see just what the difference was between the pro and slim, like side by side. Visually, nothing, visuals are identical for the most part, you just get 4k in some games on the pro, but I game at 1080p anyways, even on my PC, or that one time i connected my pc up to my TV. I couldn't notice 4k from my couch unless I really strained to see the details. Also the ps4 slim games look really amazing considering how weak the hardware is on paper.
So I figure the ps4 slim is really good value for money right now, and has better games than xbox. You can find great deals on it. Incredible corruption has a ps4 slim with 3 games for R3699, i just don't know when they'll sell it because of lockdown. Also, considering there really isn't much visual difference between the ps4 and pro apart from 4k in some games there's no need to go for the pro. Neither are future proof. Save that money for when the ps5 comes out, and sell the ps4 if you feel the need to upgrade.
