Tried Windows 11 yet?

Who has upgraded to Windows 11?

  • I did and love it as my daily driver

  • I did and love it (for light/HTPC use)

  • I did and rolled back within 10 days

  • I did and wish I hadn't, now I'm stuck with it

  • I haven't yet, I'm still thinking about it

  • I'm not going to

  • I did without TPM 2 - no issues yet

So I can create a w11 boot disk with rufus as usual?
I do it differently.
Disable TPM check.
Download Windows 11 ISO.
Double click it after download and it will mount in Windows Explorer.
Start the Setup file in the mounted drive. All your Apps, Games, Files will be kept.

I might do it this way since I already reinstalled OS this year.

Tried it on a VM, seems pretty stable but will have to use it for a while on the work laptop before it touches my gaming system 😁

Work laptop is on Win 11. Hate the changes to Excel. Like it's were we do most of our work and it really is the little changes that make me dislike it. Personal rig is still going to be on 10 for the foreseeable future.

Sorry, what does W11 have to do with Office, surely it would just be a different version of Office that would make those differences, or am I missing something?

Office seems to have auo-updated to "the new look". I was pestered for weeks about checking it out and ignored the messages, seems to have updated sometime early December.

Not going to upgrade till I'm sure that all the applications I use are capable of working in win 11 🤷‍♂️

Did the upgrade and it sorted out my HWinfo issue =)

Need to check apps and office etc, but the upgrade was super painless and quick, I don't know why they needed to +1, still feels like W10 to me

It's Windows 10 with an updated GUI. Everything works the exact same....

Basically done for "security" additions. TPM etc.

So I need to do a refresh of my PC it's been 2 years and things like HWinfo not opening up are starting to bug me.

Should I be thinking about W11, or is it just a Vista grade OS and I should stick to W10 until the next iteration comes out?

Has anyone had compatibility or other issues with 11 and what were they?

You do know that Win 11 is basically a rebadged Win 10?

it doesnt matter that its supposed to be win 10 - they stopped some of my machines from being able to install it - thats enough for me not to install it any machine ...... - its a totally useless thing IMHO

Just a question, but wheres the option of "I did it, use it as a daily driver, and it's just ok"?

Don't get me wrong.
After the stable release I haven't had any issues with Win11, not with compatibility or otherwise.
But I wouldn't go as far as saying 'I love it'...
I don't waste time trying to love a Operating system that's just there to allow me to do what I have to for work etc.

So i've had it for over a month, some things annoy me like RIGHT clicking on files you have to click for extra options...

So i have a triple monitor display and the taskbar only pops up when hovered on my main display (Bottom of the screens and hidden), i can only open the tray if i click the windows key then it opens on all monitors.

Did research and seems to be an old glitch. Cant find a work around.

Otherwise, no issues with Win11 for me. :)

i had windows 11 on my i5 7500 laptop.... doubt you have to disable tpm checks and all that jazz.... i installed it through windows update just fine
I tried the above the other day. I did not load the rapid storage drivers onto the boot disk or something so it also would not install from a rufus bootable. I'll just stick to W10 for now.

Try updating your bios to get TMP 2.0

Edit: and obvs make sure it's enabled in bios as well

Theres a batch file that someone linked some time ago to fix this.
Changed mine as soon as I saw that, and it works perfectly, even after numerous windows updates, which is definitely a nice change of pace.

Aaaahh any idea where it was? Literally pulling my hair out lol!

It is enabled. even the Health check app is not objecting that fact. The only issue that I get with the health check is my CPU not being supported. But TPM2.0 etc is all in the clear

ah i see, that's wierd

Edit i saw now it's not on the supported list, i think the reason i recieved the update is due to the fact that i was signed up to the insider program

Aaah Yes! Thank you Thank you! Holy Hell that's so much better! I love Carbonite :)
