Hi Carb,

Any advice on ways I can watch sport like rugby and cricket in HD without being forced to sell my organs to DSTV.

I know of all these illigal streaming websites but I am looking for a more plug and play solution I can use on my smart tv without having to fight ads or shitty web interfaces.

I am willing to pay for a service but not the fee DSTV is currently offering.

So, you want a legal streaming service, that's plug and play, no-ads with a polished UI costing less than a full premium DSTV sub? Sorry bud, does not exist. You are going to have to compromise an item or two on that list if you want to get anywhere...

Didn't know the MultiChoice monopoly was that bad but thanks for enlightening me, hopefully this will change in the future.

Okay I know there's no unicorn because I'm in a similar boat. My Dad wants to ditch DSTV and I've explained to him there's no other service he'll get to watch South African rugby like Supersport unfortunately. But what is the next best offering from other streaming services that cost a lot less?
He keeps finding dodgy ass ads promising wonders on Facebook and I keep telling him to hang until I find something decent.

Slowly indoctrinate your dad into the world of football. Once fully converted, sign up for Showmax Pro for R299 a month and watch any and all football legally and affordably

Been using this for about a year now, listen its great if you're a football fan only because theres nothing else on offer, I mean the movie and series side is not bad but theres no other sport. Also the video quality isn't exactly full hd, its not bad but its not full hd. Maybe 720p or something at max quality for live sports

Very true. They do fall behind in terms of video quality. I had HBO Max for a while and the video quality of HBO shows on Showmax was noticeably worse. They might be the only streaming company in the world still running at 720p/25fps.

But I'll still take it over a dodgy sports stream with its whack-a-mole pop-up ads.

Reviving this thread now that Showmax Pro is no mo :(

Showmax has switched to mobile only for sports streaming and there's no way I'm paying R225 a month to watch Premier League on my phone. And the worst part is they block casting and mirroring so there's no way to view it on a big screen.

Does anyone have any feedback on the DStv Stream compact package? Do you get all the Premier League games with that package? Or do you have to go for Compact Plus?

Either way it's a bitter pill to swallow at R449 and R579 per month respectively, compared to the R349 for Showmax Pro. Huge L for Showmax and DStv!

Any legal alternatives out there that I'm missing specifically for watching Premier League?
