Hello Carbies

I'm using a lenovo thinkpad T480, about 3 years old. Recently gave me crashing problems (blue screen of death).
Got a buddy to have a look (had BIOS/CMOS update issues) and now it's working but without the battery meaning it lives on charger,
contacted Lenovo in Joburg they say they don't have replacement for my model.

My bud found a few gauteng vendors but they only offering 6 months warranty for a generic battery at roughly 2k which I'm skeptical of taking.
Can anyone here kindly recommend a legit reseller or store that services genuine lenovo parts? It's either repair dead cells or order new battery.

Also, know a vendor in Rustenburg, says he can get an original battery for around 1k but can't place order till Jan and wants me to forward serial number, does the price sound decent for genuine parts?

spl.co.za

They only supply the branded parts but i am not sure if they closed till new year and they are generally reasonable

I use spl generally good service, but one got a refurb for my alien and packed up a month later but didn't have hassles returning it. Now that alien is in the cupboard

thanks will follow up

Hey guys, still no feedback from links you provided, it's been over a week now and they're still quiet. any other recommendations?

Otherwise only option to pursue is the vendor in Rustenburg

Can also try laptop accessories (old name), I used to buy from them a while ago and never had issues.
New url;

Loads are people are just coming back to work today (like me), some companies are still closed due to the holidays. I'd give it a couple more days just in case.

Try these chaps, I bought an Original DELL battery from them and I think they stock OG Lenovo stuff as well.

all good

Have you tried Takealot. Ive found some good generic batteries on there for various laptops.
If it's not compatible that's where Takealot's return policy really is a lifesaver, so very little risk involved.

looking for original for my model

@ovisser1 they say they want the part number which is located on the left side of the battery itself, so I'll have to take it out to see

@moedeez got a quote from techexpress today, battery itself is 1.4k and total, with admin/VAT, is just over 1.7

waiting for other responses
