Hi all,

I have done a few deals here recently. I am a new member but with everyone who has done deals with me I think I am pretty stand up. I will admit that I may have gone into this one a little bit top quick even after I thought it would be fine but still.

So I had an ad on gpus for a wanted gpu for my brother. It is still up there under my name. He came to me. I checked it out and it seemed legit. I agreed and eft'd the money. My brother paid R1400. He isn't very athletic and very anti-social and I was simply hoping to get him into the same hobby as me for some fun.

Mr.vanZYL sent me a message offering his card. He supposedly overnighted it from Harrismith. Everything seemed legit and fine. The first red light was the fact that he moaned that I did not pay Instant EFT and did EFT. I waited until the supposed delivery time of 18:00 and it is not 18:00 and nothing. Realised I probably should have thought before band. Just searched Google for images and found the exact same picture of the graphics card on there.

I don't know what I can do or how I can do it. But yes. That is what happened and it was a bad deal. It's unfortunate.

Whoever has done deals with and has to vouch if needs be then please do.

Sorry guys. Just really upset at the moment for my brother. Thanks for listening to the ramble.

Lemme guess this mrvanzyl has 0 I trader? I'm surprised he did not ask for a deposit, or did you pay half. Be it as it may you probably have been scammed.

It's seems the frequency of scams are increasing quite rapidly on carbs, be careful with your hard earned money and be diligent when making deals.

Looking at the other thread about needing to be screened properly, I agree. It may slow down the growth of the forum and I may never have found it or joined (I am new) but at least I would not have been scammed and you guys would have a better time. It is confirmed. I have been scammed. I will be going to police station tomorrow to open a case and I'm going to FNB to see if I can get his bank account locked or something. I do not take this lying down.

It's not uncommon about the whole instant EFT thing. I did a deal with a guy as well and he asked if I did an instant EFT. Told him no as its R75 with fnb. He just said it is understandable but he will only release once it clears which is fine. Anyways if you do a payment before 1pm on weekdays, it generally reflects in the other bank account just after 5.

Moaning that it wasn't instant though is definitely sketchy, I mean why moan... not like the courier guy is standing at your door waiting for payment to clear.
