Merryfair WAU Ergonomic Office chair review

I just got a Wau from ODO after trying it out at Desk and Chair.

I love most aspects of it, but not yet sure about the comfort of the seat. On the ODO listing, the image they show for the black frame, fabric seat variant is for the 609 model (narrow back). The one they delivered is actually the 709 model (wide back). Going by specs the 709 seems better on paper since everything is bigger, except the seat is supposed to be deeper on the 609.

Has anyone actually seen the 609 model with the fabric/padded seat in SA (ie: not just in listing pics)?

Has anyone compared a 609 and a 709 side-by-side that both have the same seat material? It seems the showrooms always have only one of the models for a given seat material, so you can't do true side-by-side comparisons between the two.

Apart from the seat length, I also wish it was a bit wider. The plastic on the sides of the seat digs into my fat ass a bit.

Finally a sale on these badbois

R200 saving and when I tested these chairs vs the WAU model, they were meh....

If purchased from one day only, who handles warranties? Got one a few years ago with a slight tear in the mesh, not sure whether it would be covered, need to know who to contact

I'm not sure myself, but I'm sure you could drop an email to ODO and find out. Would be great to deal with the supplier directly

Dammit, missed it again :(

But damn the price has gone up so much now, I remember a time when these chairs were sub R6000

I'm sorry

Yeah I remember first reading this thread when the chairs were going for sub R6000, perhaps they will discount them further in the future. I was pretty desperate though, currently using an awful kitchen chair!

I found some in JHB for a massive discount under R5k per chair, only problem it is a non-carbie.
Would you be willing to collect and ship one to me? We can each get one and I'll obvs pay for mine + shipping.

back then i got it for 5k from oneday only :) such good money spent

Bit the bullet and bought the chair..hope it lives up to the hype at R7k, shipping included🥲got the black frame with fabric seat and mesh back, but for some reason, the photo of the chair on that option looks a bit different to the others. Does anyone know why?

If anyone sees these WAU chairs on sale somewhere, or even an As New 2nd hand option, please let us know in the thread. Thanks!

My only complaint about the chair is that if your raise the back, it doesnt stay up, I often have to pull it up again.

Nearly 6 months waiting and no specials on these chairs.....my poor body....from 5-6k just over 6 months ago they now over 8k lol wish I knew about the specials earlier.

I guess it will remain a pipedream for some of us :(

Will keep an eye out for those as well....I do remember using one briefly at an old job and they were quite good....I always worried that the mesh type material will break under me or rip lol

I'm a big guy and she is all good after like 3 years and the chair is a few years older.

I went to desk and chair today to sit on a couple of chairs.

I purchased this chair more than 3 years ago and it's finally kicking the bucket. Disclaimer, I bought the chair without the headrest which saved R500 back then. This option is no longer a thing.
Motion

I sat on this
Mi ergo something or other
The price was the only good thing about the chair.

I sat on every Merryfair they had.
Tune - Was fairly good. The adjustable back support is pretty solid and sitting on it with it correctly adjusted is helping my back nicely.(I have a fcked up back)
Spinally - Sat in it, Got up and moved on. I don't know how they made it that uncomfortable. It's like sitting in a half bucket seat.
Reya - I liked it a lot, Really comfy. The soft plastic backrest feels good but I have no idea how long it'll last.
Wau Mesh - No
Wau Fabric - I can see the appeal, I didn't like the seat.
Wau plastic - It was okay, preferred the Fabric one.

I bought the Tune and so far so good.

Pulled the trigger on one of these...not a onedayonly kind of special but R1000 off is still something.
