It is with a heavy heart that I have to post this.

We are planning on moving to NZ and would like to take our 3 cats with. However, our one cat (Bailey) is a roamer that enjoys being outdoors and having his own space.
He becomes anxious if he cannot move around freely or as he pleases. Our other cats are more adaptable, easy-going with one another, and prefer staying indoors, and therefore are not 'flight risks'.
We are worried Bailey will find the move too stressful, will not settle, or will try run away once we are on that side.
After careful consideration, we are trying to re-home him, to ensure his remaining years are relatively peaceful/stable.

Male
Calico mix breed
8yrs old
Neutered
Chipped
Good health
Annual shots up to date
Friendly to kids/people/strangers
Not used to dogs
Needs to be able to go outdoors; territorial (preferably only male cat in household)

If anyone can provide him with a loving home or know of someone who could, please PM.

Beautiful boy and I hope he goes to a loving home

If I could I would take him. I have three female cats and our two dogs are very cat friendly. Unfortunately I just can't bring any more animals.

I'll keep an ear to the ground and if I come across anyone I know who is good to animals wanting a cat then I'll definitely tell them about him.

Come @ovisser1 this cat can teach your girlfriend's excuse of a dog to be a real dog.

Appreciate the sentiment and offer. It wasn't an easy call to make - but like I told the wife - let's just rip the bandaid off now than postpone it.

Do it visser xD

Thats why I got my cat, and to this day they still start physical fights so I dont think adding another would be a smart idea.

And jokes aside, I think if the dog had a snout there would have been blood long time ago. Only saving grace so far has been that the dog physically can't bite the cat.

Did you ever find a home for this lad?

Yarp. My parents offered to take him in. And actually it couldn't have been a better match. They had no animals, live on a big plot. So, he's pretty much king of the castle, big ass space to roam. It helps lessen the guilt.

But literally no one even made an offer to take him in other than my parents :( places like FORA or SPCA are overloaded - and I'd rather murder him myself before I let him go to a place like that.

Glad to hear man and that was pretty much the best outcome you could have hoped for for him.

Rescues and the like are really overcrowded and as bad as it sounds, most people will opt for a kitten over an older cat, esp if it's first time owners, apartment dwellers or have little kids. Reduces the risk of the unknowns that an older cat might bring into the situation.

Good news story.
