Keyboard Nut Thread

When you say nailed, what exactly happened?

Are you being fined?

Im importing manga like a mad man and im expecting them to contact me sometime soon at this rate.

They did not give a reason in the email.

I called this morning thinking it could be the fact that a tube of Krytox is in the package or that it is my 6th package this year from overseas.

They asked me if the goods are "used goods" in the package and I said I bought new off Amazon so still waiting to find out what this is about.

Probably not the amount of packages, but the fact that your package contains a liquid.

Unfortunately, most repackaged Krytox lubes only has the name 'Krytox' on the lid. So it seems like 'used' goods.

Most customs would want to verify what the liquid is, so no illegal substance comes in with it. On the normal Krytox tube that info would be on the packaging. Now they have to deal with a non sealed container and random label with no manufacturer or content on.

I have asked Amazon for a refund and they have approved it.

Wont make this mistake again of having to deal with the ITAC looters.

Had SA Hyper Fuse on it but I felt like using my Sea Melody caps.

@DoDo @Kaamraan @GreenAvitus

  • You send me a neat list of URLs with your finalised order
  • I make a spreadsheet with everyone's stuff and you confirm your stuff is 100% correct
  • You pay me an initial amount
  • I order and handle all the import hassles
  • Once it's in my hands, we settle any remaining variable costs and local shipping
Budget on the current exchange rate + 30% - so that's

+-5% bank & PayPal fees,
15% vat,
+-5% customs and then
the cost of shipping split between everyone.

I'd say that's a conservative amount though, I'd just rather avoid people getting any surprises. Sometimes we get lucky and pay less. Previous GBs over the last couple of months worked out to R18.18/$ (unlucky) and R14.51/$ (lucky) which is of course foundationally based on the exchange rate.

I'd like to order soon, so let's say the cutoff is COB tomorrow (08/04).

Thanks a bunch for your efforts! Sent you a lonely single URL for some keycaps 👌

Thought I'd share an update on info for the Keychron Q1 for anyone else who might be as interested in it as much as I am.
  • All review units have been sent out
  • Embargo date for review videos is 2021/08/24 (I cant wait!)
  • Badges can be bought separately for $29. They will be aluminium and black. Additionally, you will be able to send custom designs to Keychron for your badge orders.
  • The badge file will be published so we will be able to 3D print or produce our own badges through what ever methods we want.
  • Heres a sound test video from Keychron. Its not the best quality video but its good enough until actual review videos come out.
On paper I'm in love with this keyboard and I will definitely be picking one up unless review videos show it to be a big letdown, fingers crossed they deliver a great product.

Doesn't say if it's wireless, should I be hopeful or.

Hey guys, I'm new to the whole custom mechanical keyboard. Bought a KBDFans DZ60RGB kit (just need switches and keycaps) of someone on carb and can't wait for it to be delivered, but I need some advice...

What lube can I use for linear switches and what linear switches are good? I really enjoy a keyboard with a deep typing sound or thock. I know everyone is talking about kryotek and all that jazz but yeah is there anything local that I can use that's not stupid expensive? Someone even told me that I should just use Q20 but I'd rather get some advise before doing anything stupid

Hi Werner and welcome to the dark rabbit hole what is custom KBeeees.
Honestly, please don't use Q20, Krytox is a lube of choice and it is expensive, but it 1} does last a long time and 2} goes a long way.

I know www.keyn.co.za had some for about 400 which is great value, maybe see if he has left on his site.

If you can find them, ink black V2's would be my choice for linear, although I'm not a linear guy.

I'll drop you a pm with an invite to the Keyn discord, worth popping in and asking some questions there as well.

Thanks for the advise, will have a look and a friend just invited me to the discord server haha and I've heard great things of black inks so will probably go with them

Jinne, had me stressed about my order, but finally got a “on vehicle for delivery” message today so Happy days

Price looks to good. $20 difference between kit and fully assembled but either way, a must have this year.

So I have been doing some napkin math on this and it's getting very expensive assuming you go with the full kit thats going to be 2500 (depending on exchange rate they use)

get and extra plate thats another 150-300

shipping from keychron aramex warehouse in china is about 180 aramex to sa is another 1000

then there are the taxes so going with +30% which is an additional 840

we're looking at at price of anything between 4500 and 5000 in the end if you do a direct import from them.

this was using the higher end of the prices and exchange rates

Being Keychron, we might eventually get this locally in SA, correct?
syntech should probably be getting in units that will sell over takealot. When this will happen is unknown. From what I got on the discord third party retailers should be getting units anywhere around 3 months after release on their site. Which is around end of November probably

Saw this last night, have it in my cart actually to buy along with some switches maybe

@iTzMeDean Would you say this is a best value for money 65 (68) key kit, or are there strong contenders?

@Cujo26 What do you think?
It seems really cool! I might give it a try, I've been looking for a board that's quite similar to this

I don't know anything about it other than what one can see on the productr page, sadly

Looks better value than a lot of the boards I can think of at least.
