Keyboard Nut Thread

/snip

Super tempted to build something custom for the lounge. Spent ages looking for mech kb's with integrated track pads, but think a Apple Magic Trackpad + 60% custom kb in a custom body could be the answer.

This. This is all you need.

Ooo

Where did you buy that if you dont mind me asking?
I see Amazon has them but they not shipping to SA

Got mine for a steal from @eY_b0ss here on the forum.

Very, very impressed with the keyboard. Don't see me going back to TKL or full-sized keyboards after this.

I just got myself the Apex 7 TKL (red). Not really a keyboard enthusiast but I did need an upgrade. I was using some Alienware keyboard since 2012 that was given to me so this is my first mech keyboard :D. All I want now is to put some pudding keycaps on and I'm happy :)

Welcome! How are you enjoying the upgrade?

Hi all. I'm selling a brand new Ducky Mecha Mini RGB CHERRY MX Blue keyboard. Message me if you're interested.

Might be worth getting pudding caps from @RebelTech before they close down :(

E:
@PandaAttack1 Do you have any extra costar stabilizers and inserts laying around?

Thanks man I was actually looking for them (specifically the hyper x ones) but these are awesome. They're on the way :D
Np, the hyperx ones are near identical to the ducky ones according to reviews - You wont be disappointed!

That fucking sucks man, Rebeltech will be missed.
They really were the GOAT. Support them and grab some clearance stuff in the final hours.

So I've got an update :)

Got the keys today, they feel really nice and look really cool but ill leave a few cons to consider (or not) for anyone looking to get them:

1. No key puller (my fingers are bleeding xD)

2. My left shift is not making the best contact with the switch/board. I'm not sure what exactly it is but I'm getting a more tactile feel when pressing the key on certain parts of the key. This could be really annoying for me since I use shift a lot (duh) and really after that linear experience.

3. The keys come packaged in a sort of hard black foam and they are wedged in between it. Since the transparent part of the key is essentially just white, pulling the keys out of the packaging left a black mark on the keys which could be rubbed/scraped off and was quite annoying to have to do that for almost every single key. Maybe its because the keys were sitting so long in the packaging? Maybe it's because of the delivery and was maybe handled a bit rough? Or it's normal and I'm unaware.

yeah it is, coming from RomerG switches, I cannot go back, Browns are just too satisfying xD I use Function for dedicated shortcuts so it becomes a hassle if you have to push FN to get to them xD as such I no longer have dedicated shortcuts on them xD
I have a Logitech G710+, quite sad that Logitech moved to their RomerG, kind of eliminates their boards and yet I like their software.

I'll keep the G710+ as long as possible, don't need RGB just yet.

Got a new to me Das Keyboard with cherry mx blue switches. Oh Lawd, I can never go back.

Hi, as far as I know, this is the only resemblance of a mech keyboard community in South Africa, I've checked Reddit, (r/MK, and searching for a South African mech community), geekhack and discord, and nothing has come up, except for a few users here and there. Is there a way we can make a South African discord server/subreddit? I would defs be interested to see what other people use, and such. Thanks!

Yessir!

Just waiting on some smaller RJ9 connectors to come in. But with the lockdown I guess I should just go buy from a local supplier to get these projects finished.

Never thought I'd see one locally, very cool - it looks so close to ideal but I need an extra thumb button, so now waiting on the Kyria+. Ever managed to source decent lube? Was going to order from keys.my but they've stopped shipping to SA.

Nah, unfortunately not. Only higher viscosity teflon based lubes okes use on chains. Ideal for stabs, but still better than nothing imo on switches. Just a thin, thin coating provides that smooth, scratchless glide.

Ah yea I struggled to get high viscosity stuff to feel consistent. Praying I can get some 204g00 when novelkeys restocks - and that they ship this side.

So what ergo setups do you have? Outside of the Iris and ergodox. Qwerty?

Let me know if you get some. We can do a group buy, I'm sure there are a few carbies that would be willing to split shipping.

I have a Dactyl Manuform project that is ready to build. I just need the connectors, same with the Iris.

I haven't had the balls to change to devorak or colemak yet. So qwerty all the way for the moment.
