Wow! Those tiny displays!
Those tiny OLED displays are awesome, and inexpensive. I have a few that I fiddle with from time to time. You can program QMK to display info on them, such as active layer, wpm, time of day, weather... Anything really. You can also call a local script on your PC that passes the display info back to the controller to display. Pretty neat.Wow! Those tiny displays!
Gat blues are great switches. So I have a Gamdias Hermes P1 with brown switches. I am wondering if getting some Gat-Blues from evetech and replacing them would make a major difference? Of course some new keycaps would also go on it. I really like the clicky switches and recently the browns on the P1 is just not feeling that great.
This is just a little project that I am wondering if it will be worthwhile to make it feel a little more solid. I would like to get some Kailh BOX switches but I know that's going to happen anytime soon.
Besides the time component, unless the person doing the desoldering has some experience doing so, chances of destroying a track is very high.Gat blues are great switches.
I'm just not sure if desoldering and soldering new switches to a Gamdias is worth it. Personally I wouldn't invest the time.
Maybe lube the least used key on your board (Scroll Lock?). Tap it daily for about a week or two and reassess?I might not be lubing the first time I open up my Ducky, but I certainly am going to add in some foam to dampen he resonant sound they exude. Just achieve something a little quieter and get used to the layout in the chassis, then later on I will lube them once I decide if I comfortable with the possibility of losing the tactileness in the Browns.

YES, lube is always worth it on linear switches.I was going the down the keyboard rabbit hole deciding on what i wanted for my custom board but now due to the rona its on hold.
Is it worth opening up my DuckyOne 2 and lubing the red switches and stabilisers in the interim or rather wait for the custom one?
There is almost no reason to lube tactile switches. Only lube the stabalizers.I haven't done lubing yet myself, but wouldn't you only lube the parts other than the tactile bump (which would minimise loss of tactileness)?
Not going to lie, I am jealous. Can you please share the exact brand/model? What switches are you running.
The keyboard is very customizable, this will keep me busy for a few days. The RGB lighting is very cool and neat (I am not an RGB guy). I am busy with AutoHotKey to script my daily use of special characters. The cool thing is you have different profiles which you can switch between. It is awesome how good the software works for this not so popular keyboard brand. I am surprised by the build quality and switch feel, very happy with my purchase!
Hello sir. What orings do you need? Unfortunately there are no shops that carry keyboard specific items in South Africa. Nothing more than a keycap set or two.Ladies, this might have been mentioned somewehere here, but cannot find it with the seasrch function (other than a shop specialising in o-rings for various uses). Any shop in SA that carries stock (otherwise I migth as well import via Amazon)?

Autohotkey is an amazing piece of software. If you do a lot of typing I can share my helper function script with you to quickly navigate text in a unix fashion. I cannot use a windows machine without the use of AHK. If you do anything tricky or what you feel is out of the norm, please share. I love to see how people config their daily driver setups.

Offside numpads should really be more popular. Especially on boards aimed at gaming. The day I can get hold of this layout. Ever since seeing this and being left handed it has appealed to me, as well as the fact that it moves it away from the mouse.
I completely do not agree. IMO lubing tactiles is 100% worth it. (depending on what you started with of course. Some switches cannot be saved by lube.)There is almost no reason to lube tactile switches. Only lube the stabalizers.

For orings, you should check out any specialised store in your area. You can search google for 'bearings and seals'. Bearing shops usually carry a large range of seals and orings. I use bearing net in Silverton, Pretoria.
You can also try RS Components or communica online for tiny orings.

There was a long discussion on r/mk regarding this topic awhile ago. I will try find the link for you to give a read through if you are keen. I was skeptical, so I tried it for myself on various tactile switches. I would not be able to identify 5 out of 10 switches if 50% were lubed in a bag of 10 switches.I completely do not agree. Everything is a vagina if you're brave enough. Why would you nut on the Keyboard?
I guess that depends on what you use for lube, but IME it makes a day/night difference (at least on gateron). Next time you do the 50/50 test, invite me, you will have a 100% hit rate...There was a long discussion on r/mk regarding this topic awhile ago.
