Keyboard Nut Thread

What do you guys think of the Ducky year of rat vs the DZ60RGB V2 if you use similar switches?
Can't seem to make my mind up :p
I think the year of the rat is a decent board. Hotswap supported, caps and switches included. Overall good. However, depending on the DZ60 config, you’d get a better sound and feel. Oh and via support too. Is it worth the extra bucks? That my friend is entirely up to you.

Has anyone here had experience with Varmilo Keyboards, interested in the VA87M, and want to hear about anyone's experience with this keyboard

How are they??
Pretty gosh darn great. I'm only testing out a few (swapped out some of my more commonly used keys) and besides sounding good, feeling incredibly smooth (with factory lubing) and consistent - they really do look great.

I almost wish I had ordered like 1000 of them to put on EVERYTHING

Has anyone tried to import keycaps from AliExpress? I don't mind waiting 6 months, but I would like to know if there are like insane import tax or something.

In my experience, the import tax on anything keyboard related tends to run around 25%, so it's a bit of a hecker, but not too bad

Sounds like we need to do another GB :p

I think those Durock POMs that ctrlshiftesc got in might be pretty competitive with the mints, though!

Just an interest check. Would anyone be interested in purchasing a full custom build?

Alpaca v2 lubed and filmed 205g0/tx films
RAMA Kara
ePBT Keycaps
Durock Stabilizers - lubed & holee modded

If so, feel free to pop me a PM. Hoping not to split

Guys, I finally built the damn thing. I was worried that it would sound awful. But it sounds sooooo good. I am so happy with this board. And linear gang... I get it. It feels like clouds. I love it. This is my second board and first with PCB mounted stabs and my mind has been blown... no rattle at all. I love that this board isn't much bigger than my 60% (it just adds 1 column and 1 row of keys).

so I'm looking at getting m first 60/65% keyboard, so far I'm leaning towards the Asus Rog Falchion. but I see Evetech Wootware and Rocking It doesn't seem to sell it, anyone knows where else I can get one?

also are there any other keyboards to Consider, my main thing is that i want it to be wireless, it will be used mainly for gaming if that mattes

Idaboa 67 from Aliexpress took 9 days via FEDEX to get to SA and shipping was free. Put it together yesterday, stock build. I was expecting white led but was pleasantly surprised that it was RGB. The stock stabilizers are screw in stabs but the spacebar sounds terrible. Going to have to find some dielectric grease to lube it. Ignore the right shift key as the keycaps I used didn't have a 1.25u shift. It was 137$ and free shipping totally worth it. The alu case is exquisite.

Unrelated, but I think you got a 'neutral' iTrader as a mistake. You can ask a mod to fix that for you.

Around 4k to spend,

Has anybody ordered from KBDFans/NovelKeys to SA? Shipping times? Were their shipping costs reasonable and once-off?

Would I be better off waiting for stock on ctrlshiftesc & the like, would it be more affordable?

Really difficult getting into such a niche hobby here haha

@Mike recently did a group buy import.
I think it was a couple weeks including customs taking a couple days.

What type of build are you looking to do?

Was looking at KBD's 60% hotswap kits on ctrlshiftesc, although they haven't had much stock recently. Along with the NK boards and the options available straight from KBD.

What I'm looking for is your reliable 60%, tray mount, alu case, hotswap pcb, I'd likely lube and film some gat yellows with a kit from Keyboard Kulture.

Just difficult finding the most affordable/viable route to purchase tbh

I'm one of many waiting for rebeltech to get their bugs in check, apparently they stock ducky keycap sets now :D

The cheapest/most viable option would be to get the kit off ctrlshiftesc. You could also keep an eye out here on carb.
There are some decently priced kits on kbdfans, but shipping and import taxes is a bitch lmao.
