Keyboard Nut Thread

Hi all, I'm currently using a razer blackwidow chroma keyboard and am considering changing to the ducky one mini - mx browns. Would there by any other boards worth considering and would this be a decent step up if any of you have used one.

Apologies if it has been discussed I haven't read through this yet.
Ducky is up top there among the best commercial keyboards you can buy. Definitely a step up from the Razer. I have a razer blackwidow gen1, and a ducky shine. Build quality is on another level. The aesthetics are obviously too subjective to comment on. But the Ducky feels more solid compared to the razer, and does not have that 'airy' bottom out sound that you typically get from lesser boards.

What keys are in your chroma at the moment? Green or Orange?

If you are importing, also take a look at Anne Pro and any offering from DAS Keyboard as alternatives. All around the same price range though.. TADA also has some nice 60% boards. Just make sure you avoid clones -> if the price is too good, it is a clone.

What is it that attracts you to the mini? That will give me a better idea of what to recommend. :D

My chroma has the green switches. Mainly the smaller form factor and the recommendations that I've seen here and there for ducky as a higher quality brand over razer etc. Would any of those be a better pick? I'd most likely be grabbing one from rebeltech once they get in more stock @R1500.

what do you guys think of this kit? Im thinking of buying it this week.

is there anyone who has a soldering kit and switch + stabiliser lube to help me build it?

Hey guys, so it's not much but the obsession is slowly growing

Gave an old CM storm trigger I found on Carb a bit of a refresh

Hoping to strip it down and re-use the switches (since i've bought 45g springs) in a 60% build

Vintage MX browns feel soooo good! Can't decide on caps yet but might just leave it original

That vintage board looks damn good! Enjoy her dude, I am officially jealous.

Currently saving up and deciding on which switches to try on my next ErgoDox... Absolutely LOVE this board. I am currently carrying it everywhere with me.

Here is a little review I posted awhile ago:

I've been holding off because of shipping. They won't specify the carrier they use because its fulfilled by a 3rd party warehouse. So i dunno if its usps or fedex. They do have shipping insurance any they accept paypal G&S so I should be safe, but I dont like the uncertaincy

Ok so why dont we have a wasdkeyboards type company based in South Africa?
I didnt realize there were so many /mk/ type keyboard enthusiast out here.

Right. Anyone know where to buy PTFE/Teflon grease or Krytox in SA? Or know of any plastic safe alternatives? I need to lube stabilizers.

Why does no-one value silence, and MX Silent keys and derivatives? Or is it that easy to put O rings and dampeners on a normal Mech keyboard?

I do for work, can’t wait to get the new Logitech MX keyboard that’s joining the Unifying Receiver family of wireless peripherals

so anyways, half my keyboard arrived, but that store decided to send the other half via usps, so I am at the mercy of SAPO right now. :/
Why on earth would they send the switches and pcb via DHL and the case and leds via snail mail?

Because everywhere else in the world, there is not a lot of difference between the two...

That really sucks. I once received a package 11 Months after ordering. SAPO did not even charge me extra for storage, isn't that swell of them?

But why split the order? It's probably to save money on their side. They charge a flat rate for shipping but then send the heavy stuff via USPS because they can save a few bucks

Sooooo, do I buy Tao Hao Miami or give it a skip? Decisions, decisions....
Got mine, real quality! Also got the Joker set but they're not see through so dampens the RGB slightly.

Hey man, no Ali express or Banggood. Can't recall 100%

Oh nice! Is it PBT?
My TKL is craving a new PBT keyset... Then I can throw the side printed caps currently on her on my mx blue Coolermaster TKL. I just can't decide on what I like more.

Yes also PBT, but way smoother texture than the Miami set though.

12 Hours of soldering later and the board I've been waiting to build for over a year is finally ready.
Whitefox + Kailh Box Whites + TaiHao Miami with lubed stabilisers. Feels like a dream
