Hi guys..

ive purchased the samsung c460fw multifunction wifi colour laser printer.. at home i got the whole family connected to the network and so is the printer.. my problem is everyone is taking advantage and printing every unnecessary document from their phones.. documents they werent printing all this time are now being printed.. can someone please let me know if there is a way of blocking their phones mac addresses from wifi printing? i still want to let them connect to the network for file sharing and internet.

Many Thanks

Your only real option, I think, is to disable WiFi on the printer. This does kinds screw up convenience. IMHO since it's family it'll be much easier to just speak to your people than try manage them like office users.

Try this:
Gargoyle - restrict access to Printer
OK, solved.

Thanks for prompting me to revisit the password idea Revs.

Going right through the ptinter options, I found an option where you can set hosts "who are allowed to make TCP connections" to the printer, ie print or connect to the web interface.

So setting the router address as allowed enables anyone who can SSH into the router to be able to print (providing their printer port is set up accordingly). This is only 2 of us who need to print remotely.

I can also add the one or two others who need to print on-site by giving them a static IP in Gargoyle and putting them in the printer allow list as well.

In the end, it's as easy as that.

The IP of your printer is probably somewhere on the device itself. Try accessing that and setting the properties for TCP connections.
