HeaDphone Discussions. (Audiophile and Gaming)

Well, I'm loving my 1More triple drivers at the moment, they clocked in at ~ R1650 delivered to my door. But I do know for a lot of people, in-ears aren't really comfortable. What's your use-case?

No. It's when they are combined that you are limited.

Because combined needs to be 1 to 1.

Maybe this way works better

1 -> 1 = FINE
2 -> 2 (or even more if you are Zeos nuts) = FINE
1 -> 2 = groundloop

And your 1->1 options are very limited because most dac/amps don't do recording. Basically from what I know you've got Sound Cards, that cheap Sybasonic unit, the GSX1000/1200 and the Mayflower Arc.

Ah, now I see what you're saying. Honestly all in one never even crossed my mind when thinking audiophile headphones, and because I use a seperate mic anyway it just didn't seem like an issue.

It is an issue for the likes of the MMX 300 though which is why I pointed it out.

Not all headsets have ground loop issues. My GSP 600 has completeley separate grounds for mic and drivers inside its cable so no ground loop issues using with my R2R 11. May be the same for other decent gaming headsets. Moral of the story, always go sennheiser haha

The only real AIO gaming headset is the Audeze LCD-GX which is basically a LCD tuned for gaming. So overall a more forward presentation and less roll off on the highs. I would love to hear it. It comes with 2 cables, one of which has a mic, the other not.

Unless you get a shitty version of the Game Zero like mine. Been mulling over replacing it with Maxim's ADG1 for ages now.

They've also got the Mobius which looks pretty interesting in it's own right.

I loved my LCD2 but I just find the LCD series a bit too big and heavy overall. Weight and size aside, the sound is smooth as butter.

Hmm, surely the Mobius sounds better the lower tier audiophile stuff? So my X2 for instance?
Don’t know. Was eyeballing it at one stage. Then I got my 800S and stopped looking. When I get back into online gaming I’ll need to make a call. Or I’ll just use my A50, which sounds great for gaming, especially after the “audiophile” EQ tweak I found on Reddit.

I also stopped looking because that headtracking surround it has is severely flawed. Can only maintain it for 20 minutes or so before the point floats apparently which means over long sessions it will become much more of a pain than a boon.

And also only of use on a really BIG monitor....maybe if I had your CHG :p

I'm running udsd with a SHP and vmoda boom pro and have no issues with a ground loop. It works great. No issue with the 6xx nor the game zero's

I hereby officially revoke your recommendation license in this thread. Steelseries mentioned in a audiophile thread? BLASPHEMY!

Now, to get back to your question. Getting something wireless for gaming, under R1500, with acceptable audio quality? Oof.

Line out in the uDSD and line in in the PC
Oh yes duh.
Hmm... I think portables like uDSD may be a Loophole.

Because both the sound card and the portable derive power from the mobo/PSU of the PC. That's probably why it works just fine.

So line in in the uDSD and line out in the PC?
How does the mic cause a ground loop? :/

There are 4 physical cables inside... 1 ground, 1 to mic, 1 to left speaker and 1 to right speaker...

If you plug your TRRS cable into a jack that accepts TRS then the mic won't get a signal. Won't affect the ground loop at all...

I thought the Boom Pro had separated jacks? So yes, if you only plug one or the other in your are fine.

The uDSD is powered by usb on the mobo which uses the same ground as the audio jacks. Perhaps? It's the ground circle of life

Umm basically yes, because the audio jack is connected to the mobo which is the same place the uDSD is getting it's power.

So it's 1->2->1
= 1->1

I imagine if you were to run the uDSD off battery with optical in then you would get ground loop. uDSD then acting as power source for headphones whilst mobo tries to power mic.

I would take a stab at these guys...

If its shit, well that's a round of drinks gone. If not, great stuff.

Otherwise probably this:

Or hope someone sells a set of old Bose QCs or Sony's XMs...

Can someone sell something cool, I'm getting sad at refreshing the audio section and seeing nothing new xD

Get the sennies and go have a round of beer. :)

Don't waste your time on cheap kak. :)

Correct. You will get a ground loop if you power the mic and headphone from separate devices. :) My biggest fear with the GSP500 and the new dac/amp at the moment. Let's hope for the best. :(

Well according to @Born2Fish the Sennies are built special and avoid ground loop.

You still have the Modmic though?

If it does work fine can I have it? ;)
