Fibre ISP Help!

Hey Everyone!

One of these days I have to move and the area I'm going into has Octotel as the fibre installation company or whatever. Now with that they have a few supported ISPs and I was wondering if someone could point me towards the best ISP for fibre as listed on their page here: https://www.octotel.co.za/isp/

I have been reading some reviews on all of them and as per the reviews they all seem pretty terrible lol, so any help on this would be highly appreciated!

I've been with Cool Ideas since getting fiber last year and have not regretted that decision. And this after hopping between ISPs every other month while on ADSL...

Take reviews with a pinch of salt, a lot of the time people complain about the ISP when it's an infrastructure issue. Not saying that the ISPs are always innocent, but when I was doing the same research you are now doing, the common trend was "bad service - courier delivered router late" or similar. Which is not really the fault of the ISP, per say.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah someone at work also pointed out Cool Ideas and another one, not sure now which one they said.

And I indeed do not want to take the reviews to seriously unless I see a trend about something more serious, I would much rather have the guys here give feedback with actual experience with ISPs and not , like you noted, " courier delivered router late" kind of complaints.

I'll do a bit of research on Cool Ideas in the meantime, thanks again

+1 for coolideas. Got them about a month ago amd the service thus far has been great.

And only had 2 issues in the last 6 months where internet was down for a day

There is a FUP but no soft cap, just the normal legal stuff

Looks like Cool Ideas is the one I should go for.
They just seem to have a problems answering questions as they keep avoiding my questions but hopefully when the line is actually in it will go better

What questions did you ask them? I'm sure that someone here on carb has probably managed to get some 'business secrets' out of them already.

I'll add another +1 to CoolIdeas.

Switched over from Afrihost after they couldn't sort out my latency issues. Excellent service and no issues so far. Plus it's R200 cheaper or smth
