Good day All

I am currently in the process of getting quotations for my boundary wall. One contractor pointed out that it's unlikely that the fibre line will survive as the digging for the trenches and foundation will most likely result in the line being damaged.

Has anybody ever gone through something similar? What is the expected lead time with Vuma for repairs on the line? Is there any way that the wall can be erected without breaking the income fibre line? Just trying to plan in advance to minimise any downtime.

If you know where it's coming from sure they can just dig carefully and should be able to build around it.

Foundation can be done then when they building the wall just build around the duct that comes in.

If you pre-arranfe with Vuma, then your lead time is completely predictable. Simply ensure that conduit is installed into the wall foundation so that the fiber can be passed through the wall and there will be nothing to worry about.

You could ask them to move the line before construction occurs. This will ve at your cost. Also its usually inside some conduit so might survive the builders

Needed to move my ONT Box inside. Vumatel sent Britelink MCT to do the move (Quotation was R750 from Britelink MCT)

The quotation included:
- 75m Fibre
- 30m Conduit
- 30m Trenching on soft soil or grass (Lifting, cutting replacing of tar, paving and concrete we do not do, client to prepare own route and notify us once ready)

I think the above is the standard. once they made the appointment, they were pretty quick and on time.
