Ever had a movie that hooked you in the beginning then fell over hard?

I watched a movie a little while ago called "Loop track"
It's a low budget movie from new zealand, Was something my wife and I watched while eating supper.

The movie really clawed me in the beginning, Mystery and something that seemed phycological with the main character.
He seemed overly paranoid about someone/something that's following him.
It's as if he's running away from something. while everyone around him have no idea what he's going on about and they see nothing. Made me wonder what he was running away from. Life? Person? Going crazy? All of them could be possible.
He'd stare off into the woods or stare at shapes in the distance that'd seem to be looking back at him but what ever looked back was very vague and you couldn't really make out it's appearance.
There was even a scene where the shape moved and made him shit himself but this time the shape was definitely not human and now the "wtf" question was planted in my mind.

That is what I'd say was the "Good" part of the movie before it completely falls flat and the story doesn't match up either anymore.
The thing that was stalking him and his group of people is a giant man eating kiwi...... I shit you not, the thing starts killing everyone. Doesn't make sense as to why he was so paranoid before entering the forest.

I generally don't get upset with movies but this one irritated me. They had something good going and for some reason they ended it with sharknado/cocain bear type BS.

One Punch Man Season 1 was unique, fun, interesting, and engaging.
Season 2 lacked all of that

Does it count if only the first 5 minutes had me interested? Watched the trailer for Silent Night and i was very mildly hyped, did not expect the story to be so slow, was expecting something more in the realm of the Nobody movie but was disappointed to say the least. The movie picked up again in the end and then at the very end the writing team shat the bed.

Do you mean Violent Night? With David Harbour? Also heard mixed things about it.

Hands down my favorite series.

Do you think it only fell hard right at the end or sooner?
For me it actually fell off within the first few episodes. First episode grabbed me and then it just went strange...

WW84, Matrix Resurrections, The Lazarus Project, Lucy...

Some films lose the plot line so badly that I'm still upset about it years later for wasting my time on watching them.

You only have yourself to blame (for watching it)

Adam Wingard/Simon Barrett films: The Guest and You're Next. Films with great setups and then absolutely stupid executions.
