Hi Guys so yeah I started a desk build about 3 months ago. Thought that I might post a log on here to see what you guys think.

So this is my first ever scratch build and I must say I'm Pretty Excited.

Since I saw the first desk builds out there I've been wanting to do one myself. After finally growing a pair I decided to hell with it and started planning.

Most of my planning has been done on paper as I simply have not had the time to go about it on sketch-up or autocad inventor. I will however get round to it sometime to give you guys an idea of how went about business.

The desk I'm using is covered in a dark brown leather (Pleather to be exact cause I'm cheap like that ) which should make things a bit more difficult when it come to cutting.

The build will be done predominately out of press wood as the desk is made from it.

These are the parts I plan on using:
 • Gigabyte X79 UD3 Motherboard
 • Intel i7 3930k
 • G.Skill Trident-X 2400Mhz 4x4GB
 • Samsung 850 PRO 120GB SSD x2 in Raid0
 • Seagate Barracude 3TB Storage Drive
 • Powercolor 7990 GPU
 • Seasonic M12ii EVO 750W Bronze Rated fully modular PSU
 • Full Watercooling including 480mm Radiator, D5 pump, Tube res, CPU and GPU block. Still haven't decided which brands I will be getting
 • Corsair K70 Cherry MX red Mechanical Keyboard
 • Razer Mamba 4G

In terms of the color theme for the interior of the build I haven't fully made up my mind as to whether I want to go black and red with white lighting or black and green with UV. Let me know which you guys think would look better.

The idea is that the acrylic window I will install in the top will be a smoked color to allow me to highlight only the parts I want with leds (might rather use a two way mirror).

To finish off let me just say that this build will more likely than not take place over the next few months (atleast in terms of parts I simply can't afford to build this in one go)

So if your willing to wait it out go ahead and subscribe because it will be done before the year is out.

I already started so will post some pics shortly of what I have done so far. And some info on what was done. :D

So lets add some more pics :)

I really like the fact this motherboard has a true black PCB instead of the common brown/black ones.

Up and Running but still a lot of work to be done. Have order my two-way mirror, so will get the hole routed in the next few days.

Did bolts and nuts have those bolts you where looking for btw? never found out hehe

Looking really good! a pity you have that huge mousepad over the whole thing though :/

Can't wait to see what it looks like finished!

Duck_bomb Managed to find some at Jack's Hammer. Why you hating the mouse-pad :D It's the reason why I frag people in BF4

Hey guys so not sure if i should first get another 8gb of ram or a tube res. What do you guys think Keltic, Duck_bomb, intergral

Ya thought so to but my games have been crashing due to memory whenever I run the 7990 with crossfire enabled. I have a sneeking suspicion that this may however be due to a mem leak. Windows 8.1 is notorious for them.

Would be getting a 270mm xspc photon if I go with the res Duck_bomb

haha well the res is just aesthetic so then memory would be the best choice.

Why did you go with cooler master jet flows instead of a corsair model?

Damnit that res is VERY sexy! Just of course you know about the whole air thing when having a tube res on it's side like that. What liquid are you using for the build?

Just distilled water at the moment with a pump and radiator lubricant that has been majorly diluted. Just protects all metals from corrosion and keeps that pump running smoothly. I just really like the jet-flows. Saw them in another build and really liked the way they lit up. I have also compared them to the sp120 pwm's and to me the jet flows are quiter, yet still put out some major static pressure. The build quality is also amazing. They have steal threads instead of a plastic hole so no strugfke mounting them. Have a look at some reviews. You won't be disappointed.

Ah sick I see then I will definitely take a look because I need some new fans on my 360 rad, the sickle flows I have on them are dead, never buying sickle flows again haha. They are nice and cheap but the LEDS die quickly and they get very very noisy after about 2 months of use. Might have been a bad batch but not going with them again.

So yeah will take a look at those cooler masters and compare them to the LED Corsairs.

where are the pics with your dual 7990's?? I want to check what you did with that loop you bought the other day!

Hahaha only a single 7990 at the moment. Will get another in December hopefully. If I can find one :p

But ya will post some pics later. Not really wow as of yet. But will get there :p

AztekSA, try enabling your paging file/increasing the file size for your Windows drive.

This seemed to resolve the issue for me.

Xproximity Thanks man :D Seems to be working now! So CPU Block or Res.

AztekSA

Man fix dem second batch of photo's!!! Must see! I got a gak jeuk to do desk build!

:D

Hey guys so the 7990 is gone :p got 2x gtx 680 lightnings instead. Partly because I prefer the look of two waterblocks :p

Hey Guys so made some changes to the desk. Have decided to go with blue tubing instead (well at least till I get the rigid stuff and some uv blue colourant) It really looks good with the brown color of the desk.
Next I sold the 7990 :/ And bought 2x GTX 680 Lightnings instead. One of the main reasons being that two gpus just look better than one :p and the chances of me getting another 7990 were slim. Would rather upgrade sometime next year to two 980's or 780ti's. Also I got my 480mm Radiator. Big up to soulreap3r for being such an awesome seller. Pretty much got everything from him :p.
Also upgraded my PSU to a Corsair HX850i. I love this PSU, it's dead silent. Plus that 7 year warranty .

So with out letting you guys wait any longer here are some pics. Be warned theres still a lot of cable management to be done, and getting the solar glass at the end of the month. Let me know what you guys think Duck_bomb, Keltic, iamgigglz, StarGazer
