Hi there guys and gals.

Im hoping somebody would be able to assist me.
The corsair 600T full acrylic side panel. Has anybody been able to make their own panel for the case. The panel is really a sexy looking piece. By looking at the pictures (i could be wrong) it doesnt look like there is anything funny about the panel, only the holes for the clips. Are there maybe any companies in SA who could be able to make a panel like that. Who does laser cutting maybe?

well it is as I said in the previous thread about it:

laser cutting really isn't needed and as you said, the only thing about it that could be difficult, is the shaping.

and again, as I said, all I can see you would need to do is, using a heatgun and few clamps, put a piece of acrylic over the original starting from one side, and start 'shaping' it according to the original.

as for cutting: that could easily be done with jigsaw/dremel and some well deserved sanding/filing on the edged once completed.

Nope.

It isn't as easy as it seems I'm afraid. MANY threads across the interwebz on this. Only a handful of people have managed to get it right.

lol inn3r

then post some links so we can see what issue they came across

I would still love to give my way a try, but well considering I don't own a 600T, it would kinda be pointless :)

even if it does in the end fail, what good is it if we never try something?

not to mention, I cannot see how only some1 like Bill at MNPC can do it and I would be pretty sure, laser cutting isn't the main ingredient at all.

I just mentioned laser cutting at it would be a clean and precise cut.

Only thing is if you make a mistake it would be very expensive mistake as perspex at that thicknes is expensive.

I don't think posting "fails" is the way to go, but rather successful mods. Google bud, you will get MNPC, and about 2 or 3 other guys out there that have successfully managed to do a custom panel. Don't you find it odd that Bill has patented his design? And all it is, is a clear window. Nothing special at all.

Out of every single person in this country that has a 600T, no one has posted any pics on any websites of their mod. Odd. http://www.carbonite.co.za/f3/custom-case-mod-required-full-acrylic-side-panel-corsair-graphite-600t-18337/index2.html

I have asked numerous places if they can cut the perspex and mold it for me, and I have been told they can't. So if you can find. I beg of you, let me know. <-----No Joke.

it is not about posting 'fails', but rather the issues they had in their attempts.

besides, you will be surprised at how, because of failures, success or rather alternatives have come of it.

and no, I am not going to Google because that is not what I was interested in.

also, are people getting lazy or just not interested in keeping things "local" anymore? why always "go google"?

post the links of the stuff in here instead of just saying stuff like "no sorry can't be done" <--- not aimed at you inn3r

I just find it always bs that when you ask people for 1st hand experience, the way they go about it is saying "go google and you will find people who have done it"

if I decide to go 600T in very near future, I will definitely give this a try.

Yes I agree keeping it local is very good and all, but like others have mentioned above me if you do happen to make a mistake it will be a very costly mistake.

I can say this from first hand I am a owner of a brand new 600t White Edition and I will definitely NOT go about doing this unless I have good understanding of the risks involved, that is where Google comes in handy.

Another stupid example would be like the other day when I bought a second hand GPU cooler in excellent condition and it is AWESOME and all, but I could not get the VRAM heat sinks to stick onto any of my chips I have gone to multiple computer stores including large shops to the smaller ones and not one of those shops or people can get hold of these "VRAM heat sinks".

Now when I Google it I get multiple places and people that stock them and ship all over the world but at a cost of coarse. $$$

So to sum it all up, yes "Local is Lekker" but its not the most efficient way of doing things in this day and age.

Now back to the topic at hand, this has actually got me very interested and I will definitely go do some homework and research on it. :)
