Hey all,

I'm getting old, and sitting on a cardboard box is causing me much back pain.

I'm in need of a somewhat decent chair to use while working.
Preferably high backed so I can lean back, look at the ceiling as sigh in exasperation.
Lumbar support is a must since I'm old. Not sure if any of these would have adjustable support, especially with my limited budget.

Budget around R5k, could maybe push to R6k if it comes with sick RGB (definitely kidding about this bit)

Help a guy out.
Thanks

There have been a bunch of these posts already, take a look at them. Some good info out here already.

Anyone had any experience with Walkingpad chairs?

Or have a look through the few we have. I'm not 100% sure which are focused on your back.

how is 5k budget limited for a chair?! you can get a pretty decent chair for that price i think? i am no chair expert...

Surprisingly easy to exceed R5k for a decent ergonomic office chair, hence why I set myself a limit.
Sure I could stroll into Makro, spend R1.5k on a chair, but within a year, I'll need to replace it as the material will have started peeling, and losing its shape, the casters might have collapsed, and the gas strut would most likely have lost its mojo.

I'd rather pay R5k (possibly slightly more) once for something decent than R1.5k 3 or 4 times over the same period, and would assume a proper ergonomic chair should help relieve back pain, while a cheap mass produced chair might make it worse.

That looks like a generic sort of chair that a number of different manufacturers sell. Looks exactly like this one except with a steel base: Leila Executive Chair (On Special) | Redline Office Chairs

If I were you I'd go Ergotherapy. They are one of the few manufacturers I have seen that have actual endorsements for ergonomics from professionals (e.g. physiotherapists). Other people say their chairs are ergonomic with very little to back up that claim.

If I were to buy a new chair today, I'd get the Metro: Metro Mid Back Ergonomic Office Chair

I know it's a mid-back but I have been using a high-back chair with headrest for nearly 3 years now but I can count the number of times my head has touched the headrest on one hand; I doubt you'd miss it.

Thanks.

Yeah, I'm still leaning in the direction of Ergotherapy, but until I make my final decision, I'm still looking at other options.

I have a mid-back chair now, and it's quite often I want to sit back completely, which is why I'm looking for a high-back one with headrest now.

Aah, well, my search continues.
