Carbie Car Guys!

What is this amateur noob hour. My car has 75 mods on it.

I have more unfitted parts in my garage than in your list. gauntlet thrown.

More seriously

Nice pics. I love the colour and that specific model.

Please post pics of the seats.

My build

Late to this party...

2010 Forester XT with some decent upgrades. Refreshing the suspension tomorrow with a set of coilovers and replacing some of the wear and tear suspension items

Hi

Thanks for postings the pics. Those are great seats for cornering support and track work.

There was a lady (in Randburg) that recovered the Recaro seats . R500 labour for the side bolster (the one that wears. She had the templates. But she has closed down due to covid.) Let me know if leather boys does recovering for the side bolster.

Does your recaro units have a zip to remove the outer?
Does the seats have the side air bags?

I will be following your build. My son loves those cars. Once upon a time he made me stop. so that he could tlak to a random RS owner.

My seat needs to be repaired

The seat bolster apparently only needs some dye (bottom LHS)

Just a note, the bremo pads are cheaper from nissan than other dealers(subaru, honda, mistu, renault). I think your model caliper is the same off the shelf customer caliper and the pads will fit.

Also for track work, I recommend the ferodo DS 3000. Road work in JHB DS 2500. These do not destroy the disc (like the ds 1.11). Lots of people supply the pad in jhb. I buy from ATS motorsport. There is also PowerBrake. They also make a pads for that caliper. They can also re-line your pad backing with better materials. Powerbrake are really great guys.

With the suspension upgrades. and Tyre upgrades. A mild bump in pad friction coefficient may help.

Just don't call it a car on the Jeep / Wrangler forums. Some guys get really worked up if you do :D
I love my little two door "beach buggy" toy too. It's Lego for adults.
Yea my mistake haha, its a fun toy ;)

What area are you in ? when rona is calm i'd be happy to take you and the kid for a spin if he likes the cars.

And yeah they are great, i had these installed in my old clio rs 197 as i was tracking that car a lot (my 197 wasnt the cup so didnt have the nice recaro's in it)

The drivers side wears down and rips often on the right side due to getting in and out the car,
Leatherboyz does do recovery but the seats for now are in good condition, at some point i will recover the seats but for now i am happy with them.

Does your recaro units have a zip to remove the outer? negative
Does the seats have the side air bags? also negative, that was in the RS250+ models

I only use EBC pads on my cars :) the price to performance works for me
Yellowstuff for day to day, and i swap out for redstuff for track days.
When my discs are up for a change i'll do ebc big break upgrade (had these on my rs225) and they stop so fast its a joke. That being said i might look at the D2 8pots cause i have never tried them before
( Kam Racing Online Car Parts Store )

Suspension i have had everything from full billstein, D2, Grams, Cooksports, to 'standard' cup shocks and springs, and honestly as this is a day to day and track car the cup shocks and springs and more then good enough

Nice to see another RS driver here @Pickled_Dick
Had my Meg for 12 years now.

2005 Phase 1 +VAT ;)

I had photos but I think they were deleted when the site got hacked a few months ago.

Oh i remember :) you posted them after you were done gawking at my yellow 172

Which lip did you install ?
And sell me your 197 side skirts please and thanks :p

Yes :)

It's the Cupra Lip
Got it front and back.
Haha, They're not original side skirts.. fibreglass moulds.
My R26.R spoiler is original though, imported from the UK in 2010.
I can get you in touch with the guy who has the mould for the skirts and the wing if you want.

My recent addition to the family my dream car, 1992 Mazda RX7 Efini.

Still a work in progress, these shots were taken towards end of last year when we had the clutch redone.

Since the below was taken, we're going single turbo, half / full bridge port. Already got a new radiator, and working radiator fans.

A few other things will be updated as we go along to make it a 'little' more reliable.

Picked this up around a month ago, absolutely love it. Haven't done much to it so far, just the following:
Ohlins DFV Coilovers (absolutely amazing upgrade)
Blox cv spacers
K&N FIPK intake (if I'm honest it's almonst entirely for that sweet intake sound)
Decat
Hondata
& Some misc. interior / maintenance things (TypeR knob, Modifry straps and phone holder).

The wheels came with the car and I'm not sure how I feel about them, the style I kinda like but I'm not a fan of the black - I'd prefer them to be gun metal grey. Plus I can't run 255 on the front with these wheels sadly. Speaking of tyres, the front are 215/45r17 all seasons and the rears are 255/40r17 mid-range semi-slicks. So it understeers a lot... but I can still get the back to spin around with enough throttle :)

I have new coils, spark plugs and plus all the necessary tools so I can replace them and some feeler gauges and valve adjustment tool coming in so I can set the valve clearances correctly. After that I am going to get it properly tuned to reduce how lean it is running and increase the mid-range torque. Oh and also repaint the valve cover at some point.

There's really no point in going fast here in Ontario, cops are everywhere and the penalities for speeding are insanely harsh. It's much better to go to a track or find some far away windy roads... so power is pretty pointless if you can't have fun with it hence why I am definitely focusing on handling/fun mods to this car. Plus the engine is pretty optimized from the factory, not much more you can extract out of it without going FI.

New coils and spark plugs are in, valve clearances set, new tensioner and idler pulley in as well as a new serpentine belt. Got a proper dyno tune done too, it made 215whp and 155wlbft (161wkw / 212wnm) - which equates to around 185-190kw / 245-250nm to the crank. Biggest improvement is the proper AFRs and how much smoother it is. It's no longer pulling timing because of the different intake/exhaust. I also did some paint correction of stone chips and gave it another wash/wax and installed some stone chip guards.

Where Dafuq is the drool reaction?
When I was a tiny ass kid, my father had a friend who was a salesman and he owned a S2000 in yellow as well. Took me for a spin.
That was the first time ever I had said "I want that car"

I don't think I would buy one now but I still have a special spot for them.

Took my S2000 out to some nice back roads (well for what Ontario can offer). Had some slippery and slidey moments but got to feel the car nicely (even if the front all seasons and rear mediocre tyres limited me) also got a few nice pictures:

Took a road trip to Muskoka and managed to get a few nice shots of my car (remembered to remove the front plate this time):

Sadly they are already putting salt brine on the roads here... and that means:

At least the Science of Speed car cover is really nice.
