With the pertty much collapse of the South African Postal Service and them becoming nothing more than a queuing line for SASSA grants for me the days of ordering from eBay or Aliexpress are over.
I was thinking it may be good to put together a database of international online places that use couriers that are of reasonable costs. So far I have only been using the following:

NameDescriptionVariety of productsCourier costs and delays
BanggoodChinese type products like you woudl find on aliexpressLargeBanggood use buffalo which is very reasonable and delivers to your door. I typically find a lead time of 2-4 weeks
AmazonProbably the standard by which all other ecommerce sites are measuredVast - you can find anythingUses DHL but gets pretty good rates. Very fast lead time - 1-2 weeks typically.

I have shared the above spreadsheet on google driver here if anyone else wants to add to it:

Just to note on Amazon - certain sellers do not allow use of other couriers & only want to do sea freight to local post offices.

My dad ordered some stuff recently from banggood, they did use buffalo couriers, however they didnt deliver to the door...not sure which courier service they used locally, they delivered it to the local pep store where he had to go fetch the package from. Just something additional to note, as it does not always seem to be door to door - probably depends on which local courier company they use to deliver to your area.

Did you select the Tax Free shipping option?

Geekbuying is another site that ships selected products here, also comes with Buffalo

I have done about 5 banggood orders over the last year, all using the tax free to SA option and all to the same address. of the 5 four came to my door and one to a Pep store, so probably luck of the draw
