Deal Thread URL: https://carbonite.co.za/index.php?threads/sold-microwave-oven-for-sale-price-negotiable.491837/
Seller:
@ivan cig
Buyer: @Hanzo
Description of Bad Deal:
Seller delivered the laptop to me. But I wasn't able to check the laptop properly because he was 3 hours late, and I had other commitments to deal with.
We did switch it on, and checked the basics like CPU,RAM and disk.
the power supply had hanger wire tired to it for some reason and I expect it was kept that way to mask the issues with it.
I got back about 3 hours later, and the laptop didn't power on at all. Not only that, the laptop was advertised "still like new". The device isn't tight with its chassis. There is a sand like dirt under the keys. The charger is an after market brand. Non of this was disclosed on the thread.
Been running after the seller since Friday. Says he will sort it out, but makes empty promises each day.

Your feedback rating to the seller says great guy to deal with and he even came to your house to drop off.

But here you say that he was late and that after 3 hours you found the laptop to be faulty. Please at least test the item before leaving the feedback and let the feedback actually reflect the experience. It’s there for a reason.

There’s another negative feedback left by another buyer where the seller doesn’t want to accept a return so it’s not looking good for you. Hopefully he does the right thing.

Grateful for your feedback. That wasn't hanger wire that was accessory wire, they come with every electronic device and electrical device that has some sort of cable / cord shipped with it like charging cables for eg. U get them in different colors. I hav quiet a bit which I utilize to tie cables together and keep them neat, its jus a personal preference. The laptop was tested and functioning, you were even able to check that it was charging which it was. You also mentioned you had left the cable plugged in and never moved it from the time you had left. If you had any sort of power surge during that time interval it was left unattended that cud explain the absence in power to the machine. I also told you I would pass by to take a look for you. I had unforeseeable circumstances that affected my commitment to you which I had explained. I will still pay you that visit after this negative thread has being posted by you to stick to my commitment and show you I am an honest guy, a family man and dont do people down.

This sadly sounds like classic scammer tactics (get some rep through a few good deals & then reveal the actual plot).

@ivan cig I'd actually recommend you return both people's money and take back your laptops. One I can understand, but two long-standing members having issues in just a few days with the same seller tells me there's something up with the laptops. If they're fine like you claim, you can always sell them again.

@Hanzo take note of the above. I'd expect him to refund you before you send the laptop back as well, or refund on pickup, or something like that.

I will be attempting to take a look at the one @Hanzo purchased from me 1st before I make an informed decision.

The other one unfortunately I will not refund nor accept the laptop returned after being opened and tampered with.

Seems hardly fair. I don't see him opening the laptop on the other thread at all. He merely uses spirits to clean the sticky shit off the keys, which is what anyone would do (it's a common fix). Sticky keys means something spilled on it. @f0Ri5 you can always take the laptop to a repair centre and ask them their opinion on water damage, it's usually quite definitive.

The dude came to my place. The laptop wasn't working. Shook it around for a bit, and it started working.
He told me that he will refund me, so he will take the laptop and send me an EFT when he has the money.
I refused, then showed him the damage to the laptop, which he then accused me of causing.
After some swearing he said he wont refund me.

He isnt gonna do anything.
Funny story: When he initially delivered he laptop, his car was broken, and leaking water all over the show. I went and helped him with tools to fix it. He is the "Family man" scum of this earth.

@ivan cig this is a nice review, mate. Do you have anything to add to the above?

Living very responsibly (it seems)

Went to the guys place of residence to tend to the issue.

Charger wasnt working at first, immense play ( loose ) around the charging point on the laptop but then I noticed the shell was loose where the charging point was situated, it was so loose that it even flexed open. The guy definitely dropped / bumped the laptop while the charger was still plugged in. Moved the pin around and it started charging and remained charging. I asked the guy if he had dropped it or bumped it or caused any sort of damage to it in any way and he said he did nothing which ofcourse is exactly wat he wud say otherwise we wont be having this discussion in the 1st place. I still offered to replace the charger with a new one if that wud have made him feel better but he refused and insisted on a refund. I asked him if it was like that when I brought it to him and he said no but then changed his story around and was insisting it was. So I asked him why did he still pay for it if that was the case even tho he went thru the entire laptop with me and was even happy with it seeing it charge even after asking for it to be plugged in to confirm that the charger was working. If I'm not mistaken this guy even put a positive post up about the sale and a while after started with these coincidental complaints. This laptop was moved around enough during inspection on the day of the sale for that charger to have stopped charging the laptop like the guy is claiming yet it didn't, it remained plugged in and charging, he even acknowledged this and said everything looks good and proceeded to pay.
This guy definitely tried to pull a fast 1 on me. Anything cud have happened to that laptop the moment I stepped out his door on the day of that sale.

obviously it wudnt work properly if uve dropped it especially after it was working or bumped it or did whatever to it. I agreed to refund him yes but wen i saw the laptop open up on it's own without saying open sesame I immediately changed my mind.

@Hanzo I'm grateful for the help u gave and I thanked u many times, it's not like I planned the pipe leaking at ur premises but u strike me as the kind of guy that wud help people and still talk about it to others seeking recognition.

Obviously, he's the one that damaged it. You're not to blame AT ALL. The fake charger, the broken laptop, the shit under the keyboard, the spilled crap on the other laptop, and the broken touchpad, that's all other people. You're just the innocent guy here. You're doing the world a service by selling your amazing condition laptops. Of course.

Well go sell them on Facebook or Gumtree. You're no longer welcome here.
