Description of Bad Deal: @ethandavid sold me a RX580 8GB Deal link, delivered promptly same day.
I work CT (USA) hours so used the gpu for my monitors and thought all is well, after my shift I started doing stress tests, but before I started I checked temps and it was idling on 82 degrees.
I checked the gpu and the fans were not spinning, tried all different software to force a spin to no avail.
I then tried the gpu on my AMD test bench, still no fans spinninf.
After talking to the seller and explaining the situation, I asked for a refund and got the following “Unfortunately I don’t think I can accept a refund as it’ll mean me receiving a somewhat non functional card that will be my responsibility to fix if I receive it”.
Basically meaning it’s my issue, and insinutating I broke it.

Thereafter he had the gaul to say “I didn’t agree to a warranty, nor did I install it myself so I can’t be sure what’s the issue”.

Chalking this up to a R1700 loss, just hope he gets removed from the community.

Whatadoos.

@ethandavid what's the story here?

Also, @-x-BioHazard-x- why pay a guy for an untested card? And then again give him a VERY positive rating for said deal, without having the card tested?
According to my knowledge, the card was working and tested on the 5th of March, stress tested on Warzone with no issues, fans running and normal temps, and benchmarked as well. I’ve used it periodically in my rig for majority of the year, with no problems. There are no physical defects, nothing to suggest anything is wrong with the card, something like fans not spinning up could be a myriad of issues which I cannot accept the blame for since during my testing it worked fine.
Since then it has been removed and stored in a safe place, up until day of sale. As much as I can understand the buyers frustration due to the fans not spinning, I do not think it is fair for me to accept a refund on a card that I ensured was working fine before I even made the decision to sell it.

Tested it (lightly) as I was in the middle of my shift, didn’t notice any issue because there was display.

To which point I did an itrade, saw the the issue after my shift ended when I tried doing a stress test.

When I first brought this issue to his attention, he told me he was sorry and that he didn’t test the card before he sold it. It has been laying dorment for a month.

There is also many signs of overheating on the card (that couldn’t have been from my 3 hours of use).

I get him not wanting to refund me cause he already used the money, but insinuating that I broke it is BS.

The problem here is that it's a "he said she said" situation. Ethandavid claims the card worked when he removed it. It did boot up and display on Biohazard's side when he received it.

There's no proof that the card was stress tested before it was sent, and there's no proof that the card was stress tested on receiving, but it did boot up and display. I honestly can't make a call here. @Ageless_ZA your overlord wisdom is required here.

I'm with you on this.

Chalk it up to school fee's paid and move on.

@ethandavid I would suggest testing before selling in future.
@-x-BioHazard-x- I would suggest requesting proof of testing in any future purchases.

tbh, COMMON sense would have fixed this before card and money exchanged.

Also, buying a card with no warranty mention or any personal guarantee listed. Risk is clear
