Posted this under smack talk two days ago. Finally got it moved over to here. Please dont deal with this guy, he ignores whatsapp messages even when online, doesnt answer calls and I still havent got the purchased items or my money back :mad::mad::mad:

Deal Thread URL: https://carbonite.co.za/index.php?threads/looking-for-cheap-2-5-drives.361508/#post-2397664 (I received a PM relating to this wanted thread which I created)
Seller:
@DIVI
Buyer: @CarbJnr

Description of Bad Deal:

So a week or 2 back, I posted a wanted thread asking if anyone had cheap 2.5" drives, fine if they unhealthy etc

Sunday morning I received a PM from a user named DIVI stating that he might be able to help me out. Exchanged a few messages back and fourth and moved over to Whatsapp. Anyway DIVI said he had a massive amount of stock and that I could get 9 2.5" drives for R850. He offered some more and we eventually ended up with the agreement of 12 drives for R1000

Noticing that DIVI was a new member and had no iTrader rating, I asked if the drives could be sent and once received, I would make an instant EFT. DIVI mentioned that he'd been conned before and therefore wasnt comfortable with that. Anyway seeing that I re-registered my Carbonite account less than one month ago (and never had an iTrader rating myself) and during this time I've dealt with quite a few different guys who trusted me, I would do the same in this case.

Note that all my deals went well and you'll see that I've accumulated a very good rating in a short space of time. Communication from my side has always been good and even with a slip up or two, communication continued and the deals were resolved without any issues.

Back to this deal, after lots of back and fourth messages over whatsapp, we reached an agreement that would pay half upfront and the rest once I received the items. I made a instant EFT payment of R500 on Sunday evening. Today is Tuesday and I havent heard back from DIVI, besides a message early yesterday saying that I would be sent the waybill which was never sent. My messages are now being opened and read and not being responded to and calls are being ignored.

I know its only Tuesday and 48 hours since I made payment, but lack of communication is something that I dont take very well. Im always chilled and understanding but hate being ignored and hate needing to chase for feedback. Especially when communication is great during the early stages of the deal and then disappears after payment is made. Also smaller details like the seller offering much more drives for R2000 and wanting R1200 upfront makes me question if the seller was ever being honest.

Any advice on how I should handle this? If nothing comes of this and I lose R500, so be it. Schoolfees I guess. Its just very disappointing when you join a community to avoid such things and then this happens. As mentioned above, I've dealt with quite a few guys over the last 2 weeks as the seller and I've always made sure that the buyer is happy, sorted and satisfied 😞

A fellow Carb member found a Gumtree add which has telephone numbers, and a office address in JHB. Any advice on how I should handle this? If I was in the same City, I would've rocked up there myself without any hesitation

Also can this oak be banned already 😤

@DIVI care to give your side of the story? You have time till tomorrow at 16:00.

@CarbJnr not to be rude or anything but with a user that joined fairly recently with 0 feedback score is always best to do a face-to-face dealing. Never pay for items before getting it - rather move on to the next deal. Unfair to blame the community since we as staff cannot do a background check on each user joining the forum.

This guide is always handy:

@Andrew_Smith

Fully understandable. I only have myself to blame for thinking that everyone is honest and genuine. I also understand that back ground checks cant be done on every new user.

I have to be honest though, after this happened, I ended up reading lots of the bad deals threads and f##ck some people have been conned out of big bucks

98% of the community that I've dealt with have been great, helpful guys. I still feel sour falling victim so quickly though (even though I was the idiot in my situation) and will probably request for my account to be deleted after I complete the few active deals that I am still part of (n)

Sad people go as low as that to rip somebody off of R500
