Item: Arcade Cabinet Parts - 2x Joysticks, bunch of buttons/switches,power supply, Jamma Harness 19" Arcade 15khz Screen
Age: OLD
Warranty: None
Condition: See full notes and description below
Location: Cape Town
Shipping: Not on this one.

So I bought 2 Arcade cabinets not so long ago and gutted them. The parts are mostly from one of the cabinets. Please note the following :

Buttons :
- The buttons are enough to put together some form of cabinet or build for a 2 player 4 button config. So that's 10 buttons (P1 and P2 Start + P1 4 Button and P2 4 Button)
- The buttons are dirty with some of them sticking. This is the state they came out the original cabinet. Nothing some elbow grease and patience won't fix. I simply don't have the time, inclination or patience to do it myself.
- These are leaf switch type switches and not the microswitches. Leaf switches are far superior in my humble opinion.

Joysticks :
- These 2 need some attention. They are 'dumb' devices with movement that triggers one of 4 leaf switches, so no electronic bits. Elbow grease and patience recommended here too.

Power Supply:
This is the bog standard Arcade Power supply that does 5v, -5v, 12v.
One of these : Power Supply

Same same but different. One I have is old a bit bruised but working.

Jamma Harness:
It's a harness that fits in to an arcade Jamma board.

Screen:
Proper arcade screen. The true 15khz version. For retro enthusiasts they would know these things are the gold standard for the true experience and absolutely nothing compares. They're also like hens teeth. Very difficult to source.
Only thing you will have to source yourself is the power board and controller. Quick research shows this should be relatively easy to do.
Original board and controller that accompanied the screen is dead. I've sent that to a buddy to have a look at but if repaired I intend keeping that for another build I'm busy with.

Because of the general condition of the buttons and joysticks (dirty and in need of a service) I'd say the overall condition of those items are poor. Functional in their current state but only just and with a clean and attention they can be made to work flawlessly with a more general aesthetic appeal. Note, these are out a 30+ year old cabinet so please, the items are not new. They are old and retro :D

Due to the weight of the screen - shipping is not likely.

No idea of a return PIF value but I do know the screen is the bulk of any quantifiable cost.

I'm thinking R750 to @NYRAD and we call it a day.

Amazing PIF and thank you again so much @Qui_Illustrati

❤️🙏🏻

R750 is less than the value of this PIF but as it's a donation it will be allowed. If the taker wishes to do an item instead and maybe cash balance as a donation, that will also be fair
Thank you @Qui_Illustrati

Woah! I literally downloaded CoinOps Legents 2 Bit Wars (256GB collection of a few arcade classics, and a whole bunch of consoles) yesterday...

Took me back to when I built the HULKADE (<-- Link to build) back in 2013...

I'm actually itching to do something like this again as I sold the HULKADE to buy the wife's engagement ring back then. Hahahaha

If these parts don't smell like cigarettes and incense then they aren't legit.
That legit 80s smell... it's like that one hippie uncle in the family who got stuck in the 70s after one LSD trip too many... that smell that clings to that wool jersey, beard and what's left of their hair... and everything within 10m of said person smells like that musky undertone for at least 7 days after they've visited... Hahahahaha

They're legit! The smell is there. It's the way the wood from way back when was treated I reckon. It seeped in to everyone and everything. You nailed it on the 'incense' bit. Very distinctive smell indeed. A smell that brings back some of the best memories :D

Out of interest - LED leads me to think PC build with some sort of frontend?
KInd of. It is actually a old TV screen that I got for free.
But being TV it had HDMI and composite and importantly sound.
So that means I run the Wii on composite and the xbox360/switch/pc on HDMI.

I have tried both Attract-mode and Batocera.

There's a arcade store in cape town that sells cabinets to

The true 15khz version
That would be the horizontal refresh rate - what's the vertical refresh rate at a couple of resolutions (and size) of the monitor? 15 KHz is (extremely) low, so I'm thinking it's a nice, chunky dot pitch, low res monitor? No, that's not a bad thing - eg old games often look better on a low res Pal CRT TV than a high res CRT monitor.
