How to actually make your car faster

and void becoming a RICEr.
Just putting a freeflow exhaust on your Vtec and making it sound like a fart cannon, doesn't make your car actually faster.

I will disagree there, I got a Stainless steel BroSpeed Freeflow with a custom Branch on my Honda and I made around 12kw extra power on dyno, just by doing the exhaust with branch, and some software tweaks, it made a lot of difference, and sounds nothing like a fart cannon, I hate the fart cannon sounds from cheap exhausts.

Will agree on pod filters, they do nothing not even the R1k to R2k HKS or High End Filters do anything power related on the dyno

Turbo cars are the easiest to get faster... Add some software, down pipe and an intake and you should gain up to 20%... Naturally aspirated cars need a lot more work. But honestly if you aren't willing to commit to a a bunch of admin after the mods, rather sell and buy a faster car...

Its also important to remember that if you are closer to the coast - gains will be much higher! The Jhb guys would battle to see 5wkw+ gains from just a free flow...

Might Car Mods did a pod filter test and all of the pods tested failed to do anything. It's the first thing people do on their car when seeking BHP.

Oddly enough, my car came in supercharged form which is great but I can't do it without the forged pistons. From Wiki:

Here, I found a super charger for my car Toyota Aw11 Sc14 supercharger Mr2 4agze | eBay

Wait, you drive an AW11 MR2?

They key thing about your exhaust is that it was properly done. Fart cannons are don't cheaply and are just a tube with no catalytic converter.
My dad did a freeflow exhaust on his Supra with a muffler to keep the air movement high but the noise down.

No, it's just the same kit that'll work with my Corolla since they shared the same engine. The stock Corolla charger was the SC12 but the 14 was better and still compatible.

As someone that spent a lot on upgrading cars...Here is a top tip...Just buy a faster car.
That road of upgrading and building is a long and lonely one...Not to mention it's stupidly expensive and you never make your money back.

Where does your dad live? I need to come borrow a certain toy

You're not the first to want to buy that bad boy. He drives a Japanese classic, my step mom drives a 350 small block Chev pancake. Guess which one they want to sell but can't?

The Chev is such a pile of shit. Bad handling, terrible power, terrible maintenance costs and generally, not very nice to drive.

I love the idea of a supercharger, not as great as turbo because of the parasitic effect superchargers have, however...this is the big thing...that supercharger whine all day would annoy me
Supercharger whine > turbo dump

Depends if the car is N/A, Turbo or Supercharged
Each have a different Route.

I had a Megane RS,
That got bigger turbo, bigger intercooler, software, exhaust, manifolds, forged RV with some other bits n bob

Now i have 1 x Clio RS 172 and 1 x Clio RS 182

The 182 has been lightened, Rods, ITB, exhaust, software, and it makes me scared on most days
The 172 is a daily funzie

Don't use Dunlop tires.
My car has no business in this thread so I won't say what it is but ever since I switched from worthless Dunlops which held tire pressure about as well as swiss cheese to Firestones (and I assume anything else would have worked just as well), it feels like my car found an extra 300 horses.

I was also told not to use them. I move to Michelin energy saver plus. The steel ply in my Dunlops cracked and made a rumbling sound when on the move. The mechanic thought my bearings were gone when he tested the car but said that they were fine after inspection.

I won't get Dunlops ever again.

I understand the point you trying to make. For the most part I do agree, however fitting a freeflow exhaust to a Vtec (B16a) does actually make it faster :)

Yes but a cheap exhaust makes it sound like a fart cannon.

Lamborghini spend months developing a titanium exhaust and tuning it so that the engine sounds even better. Awesome.

A civic driver goes down to his local mechanic, installs piping from Builders Warehouse and thinks that he has a race car.
RICEr.

Invest in decent oil, decent spark plugs etc and spend money on an exhaust that doesn’t resemble that of a drainage system.

The main purpose (as I see it atleast) pod filters are more to save valuable under bonnet space more than anything especially when you start fitting turbos and intercoolers
catch cans etc

Ah damn, let people have their fun. Monster stickers, etc. Let them attract the crowd they want. I've got a BMW F30 that I tinker with now and then. Its a pretty entertaining hobby. But no, no monster tickers haha.
The absolute worst though is somebody pretending to have a car they dont. BMW's with fake ///M badges, Mercs with fake AMG badges, Vivo's with GTI badges... gah. You're not fooling anyone.

LMFAO! There's loads of ignorance in this thread:LOL:

Supercharger whine sounds waay better than coil whine!

When someone puts an AMG or Mpower badge on...crooked.

I want to pull them over and slap the shit out of them.

I wouldn’t mind getting a 330D and then upgrading the turbo after a while. Increase the size of the inter cooler, injectors, diesel pump, etc.

Turbo props become loose after a wile and a nice remap would push the power up significantly.

It would wreck the resale value of the car but I wouldn’t expect to sell it. It would be my adventure performance car.

Whats even worse is the manufacturers pandering towards these people. You can buy things like the "AMG appearance package" and have it factory fitted when you buy a new car...

Im one for modded cars... all my life I have not had a standard car for too long and have done something to car. If it was a aspirated engine it got turbo charged/ fitted with bigger engine and turbo or if it was already turbo charged I added mods and software to it.

It’s a Passion for me and I am also very DIY and mechanically capable so I do most of the stuff myself. In fact this passion has become a business itself.
I sell mods and fit them, I can also help with repairs and maintenance

Yes you can destroy the car if things are done badly or shortcuts are taken but if done right I don’t see the issue.
When I say done badly there are people out there that are happy to cut the car up anywhere and everywhere to make things fit.
I don’t believe that’s the way, the conversion or mods should fit the car the way it is..

Anyway just my 2c
