How to actually make your car faster

How to make your 1.3 1998 Tazz faster!

Step 1. Sell car
Step 2. Buy faster car

Same steps can be applied to motorcycles
You could drop it down a mine shaft and it'll accelerate faster than ever. Tazz is bog slow. The cool thing is tho that if you got an RSI/RXi engine and cooler, it could just bolt in with some minor mods. I'd also widen the tyres and install better suspension but flogging a dead horse springs to mind with a Tazz.

If you want to do that, you do it properly.
Get a S2000 or something or even a Z240. Get a modern GTR engine from a wreckage somewhere and make a sleeper without the gaudy colour schemes and mismatching bumpers

This is a proper demonstration on how to lower your car properly so that it looks great, rides better and doesn't look like a rice-mobile.

Just go buy a fast car. that is the best solution.
And dont think that just because it has a turbo it will be faster than non turbo cars.

Alot of ppl have recommended software tuning, remapping, chips etc.

Might Car Mods did a pod filter test and all of the pods tested failed to do anything. It's the first thing people do on their car when seeking BHP.

Oddly enough, my car came in supercharged form which is great but I can't do it without the forged pistons. From Wiki:

Here, I found a super charger for my car Toyota Aw11 Sc14 supercharger Mr2 4agze | eBay

The factory pistons on a ZE is not forged, and you do not need them for a SC12 :)

well i blew a turbo over the weekend so time for the upgrade

Yes but then you need to change the fuel injectors too and do a complete remap of the whole system.

I think the basic understanding is that cold air = more power due to the increase in cold air density but it still doesn't work.
Your ECU needs to be remapped but it can't take advantage of the minimal increase in air density because it's designed to work with huge changes in air/fuel rations with turbos and superchargers. Your air/fuel ratio needs to be accurately monitored and controlled, otherwise your engine will die.

If you add a turbo putting in 1.5 bar pressure, you need to put in 1.5 times more petrol to keep the air/fuel ratio the same. Putting in more air with the same amount of fuel won't work and may result in worse results.

The MCM guys put an STi turbo on their Subaru Forester and it produced the same power afterwards because the ECU injected the same amount of fuel and air into the system as before to keep the engine healthy. They did an ECU tune and the power increased.

Air superchargers are also stupid whilst I'm on a rant.

No bud, fuel has little impact on power, it is the timing that makes power. More fuel usually result in some extra torque. :)

The main purpose (as I see it atleast) pod filters are more to save valuable under bonnet space more than anything especially when you start fitting turbos and intercoolers

Wow awesome, is this yours? I also did a K1100 conversion with custom 215 tires on my Mini GTS.

I feel the exact same way with people putting RGB and other useless cosmetic stuff in or on their PCs that does not attribute anything to performance. :) RICER in PC terms.

well i blew the stock turbo on the Alfa QV so now im looking at the TD 05 and Bo3 turbo upgrade

Just trying to decided on whose going to tune
What kind of TD05? Do you have V6 or 4 cylinder :D

Yeah, but for me when it come to cars "buy a faster car" is not an option. It is not unique.
I will die if I drive around with my new fast car and see plenty of them on the road.
My car must be unique :D

So add some bigger fans and brighter leds to your PC

will be the Td05 18g , i have the 1750 TBI engine 4 cyl

That will be awesome. Just be careful if you read about your car on the internet. If they say 300whp on setup X then you wont get close to it.
Our fuel is the problem. The 95 we have is not 95 RON :ROFLMAO::cry:
And I guess you know about a reputable guy that can remap your ecu?

i have a few options regarding the mapping but im still trying to decide whose going to do it, i have the Me17 Ecu ( so golf 7 ECU ) so there are lots of options to tune

im hoping to push 340 to 360 whp on stock internals

@JollyJamma Bud what Corolla do you have? I have an extra 7A here by me :)

I have a 4AGE, 1999, 160i GLE.

My parents got it for me and I am so grateful. Easy to fix, zippy, functional and frugal.

The only thing that bugs me is that the tyre selection for 14” rims is severely limited and I don’t want to put bigger rims on it just for the sake of slightly better tyres.

Other than that, it’s way better than a Polo Vivo.

This^
So much relate. RGB is basically the equivalent of 18” rims on a 1995 1.4 Citi Golf.

Fucking RICER shitty ass piles of fart cannons with zero power. No interest or knowledge of how a car actually works, just posing. Tools.

Which toy do you have @Skalabala? I've got a 89 Conquest 1.6 16v sport. Keen to upgrade the brakes. Motor is still stock

I like that you want to upgrade the brakes. Your stock ones are likely old tech. Try get some performance pads first but they might squeak badly.

You could put disks all round but I’d just upgrade the discs on the front and shoes on the back.

Mighty Car Mods explained that drums still work really well, they just fade quickly on a track.

Secondly, how is your Redmi note 4?

Ive got a 1985 Conquest with 4EFTE and plenty other stuff.
I am actually rebuilding it completely at the moment. Started about a month ago.

Yeah my discs at the front aren't ventilated brakes so i want to change them and the discs do need replacing so ill probably just switch then. I know the RSI model of my year had them so need to go to a scrap yard to find some.

I also want to change my air intake, as its aging not sure yet what ill replace it with.

Mines the 4AF motor nothing fancy xD

Yeah I don't want to do too many mods as its my daily. However i do want to get a second toy that i can mod properly but that's a while off still. Don't have space to park another car.

Battery life is great can't complain. I have been using my phone less since switching over from my previous phone. Been having issues with my right thumb xD I don't really use the camera so cant really comment on it. Seems decent from the odd pictures i've taken. Its running Android 7 no idea if we getting oreo or not hopefully we do. I've got the 3 gig ram one it does show sometimes where it closes apps etc. but for what i paid for it i can't complain. Before i thought 4 gigs ram was decent but i on the verge on saying that 6 gigs should be minimum now days if you do light gaming and lots of multi tasking on your phone. Overall build quality isnt bad i was actually surprised its pretty decent. The sim tray is a bit flimsy imo they could improve on that. The fingerprint reader is in the perfect place also pretty quick. Obviously only downside if your phone is lying on the table you have to pick it up to unlock.

I want to buy my girlfriends step moms Merc when they emigrate.

C200 coupe. Absolute beauty. AMG pack. All the extras. 18” rims. ~R1800 for a reasonable tyre that won’t suck. R2700 for a superior model. R5000 for the best.

Never buy a cheap unknown brand “ultra performance” tyre, you will find out how much it sucks when you have to slam on the brakes in the wet and your speed remains constant.

I would have agreed with you a decade ago, but a lot of the rubber compound tech and tread patterns coming out of some of the cheaper brands are pretty good. But I will concede that there are some terrible brands among the decent budget ones.
I should mention that I work for a company that deals in some of the cheaper brands, seeing the results first hand did convince me to change from my loyalty to one of the major brands.

EngineeringExplained did good break down of a study done in the US recently about value for money in tires, including wear testing:

Yeah, I know that there are quite a few brands you’ve never heard of that are probably good but of the brands I’ve seen for sale at some places, you can get a known brand name for much the same cost.

I’m moving to the Pirelli P1 as it’s the same price as other tyres but offers much better sizing for my car.

Pirelli CINTURATO P1

I usually take an Eco+ size 175/65R14. If I get the 185/60, it has a 2% bigger radius overall, slowing my acceleration but giving me a wider foot mark.

With the Pirelli, I can get a 185/60 which is smaller overall and wider, increasing both my acceleration and foot mark. It has good reviews and is the same price as my Eco+.
